At Pacific Kayak Fishing, we offer half-day guided kayak fishing charters designed for anglers of all experience levels. Our fleet features Hobie kayaks equipped with Garmin GPS/fish finders and pedal-drive systems, providing a smooth, hands-free experience on the water. This setup makes kayaking less strenuous than traditional paddling and allows you to focus on fishing.
No prior kayaking or fishing experience is required. Our kayaks are extremely stable, and safety is always our top priority.
We fish with light tackle using spinning reels and live bait, targeting species such as roosterfish, snapper, grouper, sea bass, mackerel, and more.
Guests may keep select fish of appropriate size and species for consumption. All retained fish will be cleaned and prepared by your guide. Final decisions on which fish are kept are made at the guide's discretion.

Ryan was a great guide, extremely knowledgeable fisherman with a true respect for the fish. Ryan was very quick to react when the situation called for it and got me on fish right away, had 3 fish landed within the first 2 hours one of which was a big rooster and then had several other bites throughout the trip. If i come back to costa rica ill be contacting him again and would highly recommend this trip to anyone that wants a true fishing experience.
Ryan provided us with a very enjoyable morning of kayak fishing, with a combination of trolling live bait, casting hard baits and deep jigging. The Hobie kayaks were very stable and well maintained. Ryan was very enthusiastic and gave lots of instruction on techniques to use. He even took videos when we were bringing fish in. I was happy that each kayak was equipped with a sonar - so that each of us could monitor depth, navigate to waypoints and mark fish.
The weather was not the best on our trip, but the crew did their absolute best to get us into fish! When the waves became too choppy to safely fish from a Kayak, we were allowed to beach fish and we even saw monkeys while we were beach fishing! Definitely recommend these guys.
Kayaking with Ryan is a great experience and a must do on the. fishing bucket list. He did a great job instructing and guiding and is a very helpful cool guy. Totally recommend him and this trip. However something to be aware of that I wish I had know beforehand: fishing Booker says this is in Heredura and Meetup for it's it a beach around 25-40 minutes north off it so it was around 45 minutes to an hour from Jaco... It is a few miles on dirt road not very accessible after the main road.... great beach BUT Ubers and Taxis don't want to go there .... and you will not find transport at 5am to there in CR..... and so if you don't have your own car I highly recommend pre arranging private transportation both To and From this beach or else you will get struck.
Thanks for your review. Our trips take place in Herradua or Playa Mantas depending on oceanic conditions. This is clearly stated in the trip details. Playa Herradura is 15 minuted from Jaco and Playa Mantas is 30-35 minutes away. Uber is readily available to both locations. If you decide to take an Uber to the location but do not have cell service upon leaving one of the parking lot attendents will be happy to call you a cab. You're son Sam also caught a nice mackerel which we were happy to clean and filet for you. He said it was his personal best. Its unfortunate that you could not join us as originally planned, letting me know one hour before the tour that you were not coming.
First time for me on a kayak for fishing. Also the first time for me to fish in salt water. It was really fun, the captain was very supportive, the equipment worked nicely and I could get in to it really quick. Cought a nice rooster fish.

I was born and raised in California but have called Costa Rica home for the last 14 years. I am an avid fisherman. I was a member of the 2024 and 2025 USA Salt Water Kayak Fishing Team. I am currently the captain of a Viking 46 Billfisher in the Los Sueños Marina. I enjoy fishing from beach as well.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 3 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

How you can pay
When the captain confirms your trip, FishingBooker charges your credit card a 15% deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
