I was born and raised in Devonport, Auckland. My Grandfather was a Merchant Seaman, and my Father loved building boats, so it was just a matter of time before I learned to sail the Hauraki Gulf off Narrow Neck Beach. Sailing was my passion until 2000 when plying for a commercial license, the need to change course to include an iron Sail "Motor Launch", and fishing to sustain more time on the water and take clients out to look at the America Cup races, then out fishing. Fishing Competitions late summer and Great Barrier trips in Winter are a must. I love the wildlife, dive when I can, and fish as much as possible. I have skippered many Charter Vessels since "Riko Riko", both big and small, but she has been in my care for 7 years now and still improving somewhere. Old is Gold and Wood is Good, and the fish seem to love swimming around her "That's for Sure".

Awesome guy to deal with from start to the end. Very helpful with everyone on the boat. Shares his experience and skills with every one. Quick to help and shows you how to do things yourself so you can learn. The only little thing is that the time goes to quick as your having a time of your life out there.

I regularly go fishing on the Rko Riko because I find the owner/skipper helpful, particularly for those who are beginners, and also limits the number of people on the trip which means you do not get your line tangled with others lines. Also he will move if the dish are not biting and everyone has caught a few fish he may move to a new spot so that spots are not fished out.
It is his boat and his business so he is concerned that you have a good experience and therefore he has a number of regulars, always a good sign.
