Pacific Wild Adventures
Pacific Wild Adventures offers exciting sport fishing off the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Our fishing trips will access the areas around the Barkley Sound and the marine rich coastal waters of Ucluelet, B.C. Depending on the weather and the time of season, we will target salmon, halibut and lingcod. We welcome new fishers, experienced anglers, families and anyone wanting to experience the westcoast by boat.
Pacific Wild Adventures has been operating charters out of Ucluelet since 2024. Before that the boat was named Pacific Wild Charters and was operated by Dennis Kaechele for 13 years out of Nootka Island. Dane has his SVOP (Small Vessel Operators Proficiency), MEDA3/SDV-BS (Marine Emergency Duties A3/ Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety), ROC-M (Marine VHF Radio Operators), and Marine Basic First Aid certifications.
The Transport Canada Certified vessel is a 2009 Boulton Seamaster 22' boat. With its welded aluminum deep V hull, 200hp Yamaha outboard and a brand new 15hp Mercury kicker will get us to our destination safely and efficiently. The boat is equipped with Lowrance radar, chartplotter, VHF radio and has a fully enclosed cabin that can seat 4 people plus the captain.
It can be quite chilly while out on the ocean. Make sure to dress warm and bring a jacket. A few other items to remember on the boat would be sunglasses, sunscreen, water, drinks, food, snacks, and a camera.
BC Tidal Water Fishing Licenses with a salmon stamp are required for each person fishing. You will need to have a printed-out copy of the license while on the boat.
These fishing trips are family-friendly, and kids are welcome. It's a good idea to bring your childs life jacket as sizes are specific. Novice and experienced fishers are all welcome. Don't worry, we'll teach you how to fish.

Dad and daughter both love boat fishing in the Florida Keys, however this was a different level, just the 2 of them with Dale. Dale was really helpful, very kind and made the trip an amazing experience. His consideration and assistance with our daughter - having his own young children, made for a great and pleasant trip. As well as catching a variety of fish, they both caught their biggest fish ever, dads was a 25lb chinook! No hesitation in recommending Dale and a 2nd trip is already planned.

Thanks so much Terry. Glad it was a great trip. That was a nice fish you got. Cheers and hope to fish with you two again.

We had a double header with a couple monster halibut one was 130cm and the other was 124cm. Cpt Dane figure right away they were breeders and too big to keep so to be safe we couldn't gaff them even when the net broke. There was a lot of chaos trying to measure these fish while keeping them safe. Fortunately we did finally net them, measured them and they got a safe send-off back into the water. We were more concerned about their safe return so we didn't get a chance to weight them but they were easily in the 50+lbs range and we were extremely happy to see them swim away. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT!!! A little later we had another double header with some keepers. One nice size keeper was 97cm weighed in at 34lbs!! Super nice fish!!! We got a good box full!! Salmon just weren't running at the time, so no boats were catching them. Dane was a super awesome guide and had extensive knowledge of the area - two double headers was insane! We will be booking again soon!!!!

Thanks Gary. That was quite the double header. Fun day fishing with you guys. See ya later.

We had an excellent trip with Dane. We limited out within a few hours, and his local knowledge was outstanding. When the swells picked up and we started feeling seasick, he quickly moved us to a more sheltered spot where the fishing was still great. We also caught a few crabs, and Dane filleted all of our fish for us at the end of the day. He was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information about the local coastline, islands, and area throughout the trip.

Thanks Gordon. Hope to see you guys out here next season. Cheers.

Thanks Cindy. That was a fun day. Glad the fish were biting for you. Cheers.
Dane was a great Captain and Guide…Had the family out this morning. Caught some nice fish. He was prompt and easy to deal with.

Thanks Trever. Glad i could take you guys out fishing. Hope the rest of your trip is good fun. Take care.
As a kid I grew up saltwater fishing on the westcoast and fly fishing the interior lakes of BC with my Dad. After a 15-year snowboard coaching career, I ended up settling down in Ucluelet and started a family. Living in Ucluelet is a dream come true and allows me to get back into my passion of fishing and showing people the beauty of the area.
