Make the most of your time in Quepos and go fishing with Sweet Dreams Sportfishing.
Local species include Sailfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Roosterfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, and more if conditions allow.
You’ll target your catch by light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea – lucky for you, there will already be some on board!
The Captain will bring you aboard a 35’ Sportfishing that holds up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience.
Your captain Guillermo will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
Before coming aboard, you may need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Family Fishing Trip with Captain Carlos!
We had the absolute best time on our family fishing trip this past Monday out of Marina Pez Vela in Quepos. We went out on Sweet Dreams with Captain Carlos and his amazing crew, Mario and Darren, and from start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The crew was professional, warm, and so much fun. Captain Carlos knew exactly where to take us, and thanks to their skill and effort, we brought in a bunch of yellowfin tuna and Spanish mackerel! Everyone in our family—from teens to adults—was completely engaged and had an unforgettable time reeling them in. The boat was clean, spacious, and comfortable, making it perfect for a full day out on the water. We’ve been enjoying the fruits of our trip all week—tuna ceviche, grilled steaks, tacos, and sashimi. Sweet Dreams makes a great team
Captain Carlos and first mate Mario are top notch. Sweet Dreams is a really good boat for a group of 4-6 people. I took my kids and father-in-law and I am glad to have gone with Sweet Dreams and would choose them again. The guys were great to work with - it was a slower day but we caught Tuna, Triple Tail, and some smaller fish. Great job to Sweet Dreams, I’m tired from a good day on the water and about to eat our fish and then enjoy some sweet dreams tonight. God Bless!

Starting with the easy booking process and near immediate communication from Johan who answered any questions I had, to the easy to find meeting point and free parking at the beautiful Quepos Marina, to the fight of a lifetime between my 10 year old and a very healthy sail fin, this trip made memories for all of us. Fantastic trip!
We fished with Captain Johan and his crew yesterday and had an unbelievable trip. We caught 4 sailfish and two yellowfin tuna over fifty pounds. We also had several other shots at fish. The boat and equipment were first rate. The captain and crew were very professional and didn’t miss a trick. We had fresh fruit, cold drinks, a real lunch and even fresh tuna ceviche on our way in. I've fished Costa Rica for 30 years and these guys are as good as it gets.

4 sailfish on a hot day
We caught 4 quality sailfish all estimated over 100 lbs. Captain used 2 approaches which is always good. Tried the standard trolling and also went and caught Bonita’s and tried those and caught over 120 lb sailfish. Had many raises but some got away. Lunch was amazing and lots of fresh fruit. Very clean boat and captain and mate worked hard all day and got to the fishing spot early and we were last ones back in.
