These waters are known for Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Sailfish, Red Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and more – with any luck, you'll find out for yourself!
Fishing sites are chosen on the day of your trip based on weather and sea conditions to offer you the best possible experience. You'll target your catch trolling in well-known areas, and also by doing some bottom fishing with snapper rigs or jigs.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! We can also tailor the experience around smaller catches if younger kids are the main fishermen!
Capt. Alvaro will bring you aboard a 25' Yamaha Panga that can carry up to 5 passengers for a comfortable fishing experience. It comes with an electric downrigger, fishfinder, fighting chair, and all the equipment and baits you will need.
Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
The charter is strictly committed to sustainable fishing practices and low-impact tourism experiences on the great Mesoamerican reef system in Mahahual, Quintana Roo.

We were looking for something fun to do as a family, while on a cruise stop in Costa Maya, and had an amazing day with La Leyenda. They were great and worked hard to give us the best chance to catch fish. They have a great boat and the captain and crew were very knowledgeable. They provided us with fresh fruit, guacamole, and drinks. While we didn't catch many, we landed a massive Wahoo and had a marlin on until it broke the line! They cleaned and fileted the Wahoo and hooked us up with the local restaurant that prepared some delicious ceviche and some grilled Wahoo filets with butter and garlic! Great family owned business that I would highly recommend!
The captain and his crew were great, the put us on some cool fish and were prepared even though we booked last minute. Super cool family-run business, happy to support, will rebook if we ever come back!
