If you’re ready to go fishing in South Padre Island, we’ve got you covered with SPI Excursions. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Chapo can tell you all about them.
The fish in these waters include Redfish, Speckled Seatrout, Flounder, Mangrove Snapper, sheephead, drum, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Cobia, Snook, Tarpon, Blacktip Shark, Bull Shark, and more.
On the day of your trip, you’re likely to throw live bait, lures, or bottom fish using light or heavy tackle depending on the time of year.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, we will provide. Don’t forget to bring snacks and BYOB for a boost of energy when needed! The charter provides bottled water.
You’ll be casting lines from a 22.6’ Majek Illusion bay boat with room for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait, cut bait, and whatever is needed to catch.
Our cafe Lobo Del Mar will also cook your catch once its filleted. Amazing fresh fish tacos!
You’ll need to get a fishing license at any Walmart or local fishing store or online.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and drinks and food. Alcohol is allowed, just be sure to avoid glass bottles.

Half Day Trip – Bay Fishing (AM)
Great Captain, Boat, and Gear
Captain Chapo was so nice and friendly. We had many laughs, learned a lot about the area, and caught our limit for the day in 2 hours. He was very knowledgeable about the fish, taught us how to catch the trout, and put us right on them!!!!! We booked a 4 hour day so we then checked out the bay, watched the dolphins, and checked out Space X!!!! It was a really need experience and one we wouldn’t have gotten from most Captains. Our catch was cleaned right there and cooked at their restaurant. It was soooooo good!!!!! We highly recommend the Captain and already booked a trip for tomorrow!!!!! Amazing customer service on the water and in the restaurant. Five stars all around!!!!

Our captain Chapo was absolutely great! Thanks to him our smallest kiddo, 3y, reeled in the biggest fish of our group. We had never been out fishing like this before and had a blast. We had our catch cooked up for some tacos at the restaurant when we got done and they did not disappoint!

Drum limit in an hour.
New where the drum were biting. Limited out in an hour the proceeded to hit some other spots for reds. Would recommend. Had 2 adults and 4 kids, captain was awesome. Helped with all the kids needs. Then the restaurant will cook ur fish for you. Fried fish tacos.

My Brother-in-law and I took our boys fishing (7,10, &12). We limited out on Speckled Trout and caught 3 Blackdrum (we would've caught more but the rain ruined our last hour). Easily the Best fishing experience... Ever! Many thanks to Captain Chapo.
