Borderline Adventures offers trips to get your group on the water and find out what keeps anglers coming back for more. With Captain Rob at the helm, you'll have a knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced guide keeping you safe on the water!
Fishing these waters offers you the chance to catch Lake Trout, Brown & Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Walleye, Chinook (King) Salmon, Coho Salmon, and more if you set your lines at the right time of year. Depending on the species you're after, you'll find yourself trolling gear just below the surface to over 200' deep, or maybe something more specialized at your group's desire.
Trips with Borderline Adventures are open to the whole family, so please make a family day out of it! We are fully equipped with a USCG-approved life vest for 6 passengers (six adults and/or three children.)
*Children must have a life vest on at all times; so please bring their comfortable one!*
Capt. Rob runs a 30' Trojan sportfishing vessel with comfortable space for 4 passengers on deck and more below in the living quarters. There's a toilet on board for your convenience!
You'll find downriggers, planner equipment, rods, reels, lures, and tackle already set waiting for your crew. Live or cut bait will be used during certain times as well!
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
You will need to get a state fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online. Ask the captain if MN or WI is needed before your trip date. Lake Superior is a paper copy IN HAND regulated body of water so please have that with you.
Good gear to bring:
Licenses, water, snacks, sunglasses, sunscreen, layer clothing. There will be some essentials onboard but it's always best to bring your own!
Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid any glass bottles.

We had a great trip me my wife and son was on a road trip so we booked it last minute. Captain Rob was great to go with we stayed in the harbor because there was big waves out on the lake. Captain Rob also knew a lot of history and very knowledgeable about all the surroundings which made it much more enjoyable out on the boat. I would highly recommend anybody wanting to go on lake superior go with borderline adventures. thanks again to Captain Rob for also letting our son pick out lures that he would want to use casting lines and making some decisions. I would recommend anybody taking their kids.

Best 30th Anniversary!

I surprised my husband for our 30th anniversary with an afternoon fishing trip with Captain Rob and his Dad. We had the best time out on the water and this gift will be hard to top for future anniversaries! With Captain Rob's professionalism and expertise, we caught 2 beautiful Lake Trout and experienced the most beautiful and colorful sunset I have ever seen. He also gave us great tips on how to catch salmon on the MN north shores for once we were back on shore. His first mate (his Dad), was so nice and was concerned the whole trip on our comfort and wanted to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. They are both so kind and really made this trip our best experience ever! I recommend Borderline Adventures to anyone in the area and we will definitely book another trip if we are ever anywhere near there again.

Captain Rob and his dad took my girlfriend and I out on their boat to troll for lake trout. Before going on the trip, he was very communicative and answered all of our questions. When we arrived, he was super excited and took us out on the water. He shared his knowledge with us and what we were fishing for and how we were fishing rather than just saying "wait for a fish" after setting up the lines. We caught three good size lake trout and lost another fish close to the boat. He provided plenty of snacks, water, and anything else we needed to have a good time. It was great talking with him as well. Some guides aren't very personable or nice, but that was not the case here! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Our oldest son wanted to go fishing for his 13th birthday. Our experience exceed our expectations in SO many ways! The Captain and first mate were incredible. They taught our kids so much about fishing, were beyond patient with the 1000 questions they asked, made the trip enjoyable and honestly - we will 100% be back. The boat was super clean and provided everything we needed and then some! They made our fishing trip so enjoyable. Highly recommend booking with them.
