There’s a fish with your name on it in Manistee and Lentner Rip Charters will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captains Grant and Joel are prepared to put you on fish. The charter is family-owned and operated with 30 years of experience.
These waters are home to Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, Coho Salmon, Brown Trout, and more with any luck. All catches are cleaned, fileted, and bagged for you.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that everyone stays happy and energized!
Your trip begins aboard a 27’ Westcoast style boat with a capacity for 5 passengers. It comes with downriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Lentner RIp Charters provides all the equipment needed for your fishing experience.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You need to buy a Michigan all-species fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
You can’t go wrong when you bring sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Highly Recommended
Experience was performed well above our expectations and very knowledgeable of hooking us up. First hook up was just after the sunrise started breaching over the treeline, which they stated when the bites would start, and was hook ups followed one after another. My wife and I Anniversary is memorable thanks to Lentner Rip Charters. We definitely will be back for more limit catching, cooler filling, and great time with great fishermen!

Great Trip for a Family
I'm always nervous when spending this amount of money and doing something kind of new with the kids. Those nerves were almost gone immediately after I made my reservation as Captain Grant reached out within minutes. We confirmed the plan and made a back up plan in case it wasn't safe to go out when we booked. The trip itself was great. Captain Josh knew how to find the fish and the first mate, Emma, was a pro at getting the lines out. It was a bit choppy and we have a kid and an adult not feel well and they were kind enough to take us back in, drop them off, and then take two of us back out. Emma even made a dramamine run for us during the break. A lot of captains wouldn't do this due to the fuel costs and effort. We didn't have to cut our trip short nor keep two sick people on the boat. We lost a few big fish, but caught five fish in total. The crew seemed disappointed (we added another Captain, Scott), but they don't call it catching. It was a beautiful night and a great time. The boat easily fits 6, but it is definitely a fishing boat. So, if you are looking for a pontoon boat type of seating area, this doesn't quite have it. But, we booked a fishing charter, not a lake cruise, so it worked fine for us. The crew was great with my family, we caught fish, had good conversation, and spent a lovely 6 hours on Lake Michigan. I couldn't have been more pleased and recommend this charter.

Half Day Trip with Lentner Rip Charters
My family of 6, including 4 children ages 11, 9, 7, and 6 had the fortune to spend a day with Captain Grant and First Mate Emma and could not have been happier with the experience. A clean, comfortable and well organized boat waited for us at the dock; top notch equipment was used and most importantly, the captain and first mate could not have been better. What could have been a difficult experience given the number of us and ages of the children turned into a wonderfully positive outcome. Their friendly demeanor, patience, and expertise made the day a memory we will never forget. The fact that we caught 15 fish in a half day trip was simply icing on the cake. I would 10/10 recommend this charter to anglers of all ages and experience levels.
