Join Nelson's Fishing and Coastal Charters for your next nautical adventure aboard the Fishin' Pole II. Whether you're a serious striper angler or are looking for an introductory fishing trip, fear not, Nelson's Fishing and Coastal Charters has a trip for you! We invite you to contact the captain with any questions or requests, button is above.
These waters are known for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Atlantic Mackerel, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some. For these species, you're likely to use a combination of tactics from live bait, casting, baiting or trolling using light tackle.
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks to keep their stamina going!
You'll be welcome aboard a 22' Center console that holds up to 4 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available during most of the season, but you should ask the captain about availability. We’ve made upgrades over the last season including, addition of a second fishfinder display, second bait well and additional rod holders.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don't leave home without sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. Alcohol is not allowed.

Early Morning - 6 Hour Trip on July 26, 2024
The gear and boat were in excellent condition, and Cpt. Nelson led us to a morning catch of mackerel for live bait followed by fishing down the coast until we got found an active spot that yielded lots of hits. Cpt. Nelson's skill and knowledge of the area led to a great trip for our group.

It was a great day. Capt Dana was relaxed and explained everything we needed to know about catching stripers. Sturgeon were jumping all around us! I would recommend a 6 hour trip.

Have been fortunate enough to have taken quite a few charters and tires was certainly one of the best. Nice trip for a small group. Lots of action and the captain was consistently putting us on the fish. Everybody had a great time!

We took my son on 7/8/24 fishing with Dana Nelson. We went out at 4pm and the wind had picked up a bit making the water choppy. We had our 9yo daughter with us and I was nervous she would get sea sick as the boat was rocking back and forth. Dana picked up on my nervousness and stressed that this was "our" fishing trip and he was happy to do whatever made me more comfortable. We immediately moved closer inland where shortly after my son caught two striped bass, including his personal best! My daughter also reeled in a fish that unfortunately wiggled off the hook and got away. Dana used his fish finder to move to different spots searching for more fish whenever there was a lull in activity. To say Dana was accommodating was an understatement! My son had "the best Birthday ever". Thank you Dana, we will be back!
