Palmer, AK, United States

Our Charter service has been voted "Best Fishing Charter Service" for 24 years. Featured on ESPN, we contribute to the local fishing derbies, and we are a big supporter of the veterans and all emergency & first responders.

In early May we start fishing the Knik River for King Salmon. The Knik River is the only river in Alaska’s Matanuska Valley that allows the use of Salmon eggs for bait during King Salmon season. During different seasons we meet at multiple locations based on fishing conditions & regulations. From 35 min - 2 hours north of Anchorage.
►►Please keep in mind that the location for the meeting point can change up to the day prior to your fishing trip. Departure time is approximate and will change during different fishing seasons and daylight hours.

Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard!  You'll be fishing aboard a 24' Sea Ark Aluminum fishing skiff with space for 6 passengers. No need to bring any equipment. Each fishing charter comes fully equipped with everything you need. So the only thing you’ll have to bring is your fishing license (a King Salmon stamp is also needed when fishing through mid-July), food & drink. Also, filleting your fish is included and your guide will put it in bags for you to take home or to a processor for packaging and shipping.

We suggest bringing sunscreen, a camera, a hat, sunglasses, drinks, and food.

Parents and Guardians are Responsible for watching over their children.
For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please remember that you are responsible for your children during your trip. Guides are here to inform and assist, but they cannot supervise or care for your children. Please ensure they follow the rules. Thank you for helping us make this a safe and pleasant experience for all!

Best Experience!
½ Day Trip @ 430 AM 5 hrs on August 19, 20252 adults
For years, if not decades, I always told my friends I would love to go to Alaska and pull a nice salmon out of the river. Our great fishing guide, Jeremey, made it happen! He was the best. He created a friendly atmosphere from the start. We really enjoyed his company, his fishing knowledge, history of the area, and great stories. Our main reason to visit Alaska was to run in the Anchorage marathon on the previous Sunday, which we did. But the trip's main event was our fishing experience. My wife has limited experience fishing, especially from a boat, and was a little apprehensive before we went. But the end of the week, she said it was the best adventure we did, and that's thanks to Jeremy!

Private ½ Day Trip @ 10 AM 5 hrs on July 17, 20252 adults
Went salmon fishing with my brother-in-law on Fisherman’s Choice Charters and it was hands-down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. The captain was incredible—a fun, local guy who clearly loves what he does and has a way of turning a great day into an unforgettable one. His humor, energy, and passion for fishing took the experience to the next level. The scenery, the thrill of the catch, and the overall vibe made it a day we’ll never forget. I’d repeat this trip hundreds of times over. Couldn’t recommend Fisherman’s Choice more—if you’re thinking about booking, just do it. You won’t regret it!

Great trip
½ day trip @ 10 AM 5 hrs on August 22, 20252 adults
Met Jeremy at the Knik River access. Easy to find. Jeremy and his first mate Stormy introduced themselves to us right away and immediately made us feel like family. While only one fish was caught it was an amazing experience that we’ll never forget. Jeremy had plenty of stories and jokes that made the fishing trip almost seem secondary. The surrounding scenery, the guide and the first mate made the trip memorable. Highly highly recommend. I’ll upload photos of the first mate

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unforgettable King Salmon Adventure with Captain Ray!
½ day trip @ 10 AM 5 hrs on May 26, 20252 adults
Captain Ray's King Salmon Charter is an experience like no other! From the moment we stepped aboard, we knew we were in for a treat. Captain Ray's expertise and passion for fishing shone through in every aspect of our trip. His knowledge of the local waters is unparalleled, and he seemed to have a sixth sense for where the big ones were hiding. But it wasn't just about the fishing - Captain Ray's storytelling had us captivated throughout the journey. His tales of the sea and local lore added an extra layer of enjoyment to our adventure. What truly set this charter apart was Captain Ray's attentiveness to his guests. He constantly ensured everyone was comfortable, engaged, and having the best possible time. His homemade bait was a special touch that proved incredibly effective - we all caught impressive King Salmon! I can't recommend Captain Ray's charter highly enough. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-timer, you're in for a world-class experience. And to top it off, here's a poem to capture the essence of our trip: "A Day on the Knik with Captain Ray" Where Knik River meets Alaskan sky, And snow-capped peaks stand watch on high, There glides a boat through morning mist, Led by Captain Ray, a seasoned specialist. Mid-fifties air, a perfect day, Clouds and sun in gentle play, The river flows with secrets deep, Where mighty King Salmon softly sleep. His homemade bait, a special blend, Through glacier waters, we did wend. Ray's voice carries tales of old, Of Knik's bounty, stories bold. Through partly clouded Alaskan light, Each ripple holds promise of a fight. The mountain backdrop, wild and free, Makes this charter pure majesty. In waters fed by ancient ice, Each cast of line, precise and nice. Captain Ray knows every bend, Where river and expertise blend. The cool spring air fills our lungs, While fishing stories roll off tongues. His boat, our haven on the Knik, Where memories stick, and stories stick. Five stars for Ray, who knows this place, Who guides with skill and natural grace. From Knik's waters, wild and true, He brings the best of Alaska to you. So if you seek kings in northern streams, Where reality surpasses dreams, Let Captain Ray be your trusted guide, On Knik River's mighty tide.
