Tails Up Guide Service
Tails Up Guide Service
, TX 78336, United States
Tails Up Guide Service offers guided inshore fishing trips throughout the bay systems around Rockport, Port Aransas, and Aransas Pass. Departing from whichever of these areas is most convenient for you, the service will provide you with a fishing trip to remember.
Capt. James Sabo owns and operates Tails Up Guide Service. He fishes aboard a modern Majek Illusion flats boat that can travel in extremely shallow water and lead you to the biggest inshore fish. The boat is equipped with a Garmin GPS system, as well as a trolling motor and anchoring system to allow you to approach spooky fish and stay put while you target them.
You could be using a variety of fishing styles on your trip, from fishing with live and dead bait such as mullet, mud minnow, and sea lice, to using topwater lures and soft plastics, which are the captain’s speciality. It all depends on how you would prefer to fish and what the captain judges will be the most effective method for the conditions and target species. Your potential catches could include the desirable and delicious Redfish, the Speckled Trout, Black Drum, or Flounder, although you could also hook Shepshead, Jack Crevalle, and even Tarpon on occasion.
While all the appropriate rods, reels, bait and lures are supplied by the captain, it is up to the customer to ensure that they arrive at the charter with a valid Texas saltwater fishing license with a saltwater stamp. While life jackets are of course supplied on board, it is advised that children under 13 bring their own comfortable life jacket, as the type 1 jackets
supplied on board can be uncomfortable for younger children.

I had my 14 year old son with me for a full day trip with James and we had a great time! First thing in the morning on our way out, James told us we would probably need to work at it to limit out due to the weather conditions and that was fine with me. Even with the very windy conditions, James was able to get us off to a quick start with a speckled trout within the first 20 minutes. Shortly after, we hooked a few reds and then moved over to another area where we limited out on reds within a couple of hours. During the day, we must have had at least four to five instances where we had two fish on the line at the same time! James recognized when to change up the bait based on the conditions and put us on the fish pretty much the whole day! He was incredibly patient with my son and did a great job teaching him how to recognize when and how to set the hook based on the whatever we were going after. Overall, an awesome experience! I will be back with my son again and next time I will bring my wife and daughter! Thanks James!
