Tails Up Guide Service offers guided inshore fishing trips in the bay systems around Rockport, Port Aransas, and Aransas Pass. Departing from whichever of these areas is convenient for you, the crew will provide you with a fishing trip to remember. Captain James Sabo grew up fishing, so he has plenty of experience and knowledge to put you on the fish.
You’ll be fishing aboard a modern Haynie center console that can travel in extremely shallow water and lead you to the biggest inshore fish. The boat has a Garmin GPS system, as well as a trolling motor and anchoring system to allow you to approach fearful fish and stay put while you target them.
You could be using a variety of fishing styles on your trip, from fishing with live and dead bait such as mullet, mud minnow, and sea lice, to using topwater lures and soft plastics, which are the captain’s specialty. It all depends on how you would prefer to fish and what the captain judges will be the most effective method for the conditions and target species.
There’s a variety of fish species that call these waters home, and there’s always something you can target. You can expect to go after the desirable and delicious Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, or Flounder. You could also hook Sheepshead, Jack Crevalle, and even Tarpon on occasion.
While the captain will supply all the appropriate rods, reels, bait, and lures, it is up to the customer to ensure that they arrive at the charter with a valid Texas saltwater fishing license with a saltwater stamp. While there are life jackets on board, it is advised that children under 13 bring their own life jackets, as type 1 jackets can be uncomfortable for younger children.
Join Tails Up Guide Service and prepare to have an unforgettable fishing trip under the Texan sun!

I chose Captain James because of the rave reviews I had read about him. Wow! He met and surpassed my expectations and definitely lived up to what the reviews said. The only complaint I have is that I expected that the fishing would be slow enough to visit with my brother who I had booked the trip for. Captain James put us on a spot that all we had time to do was reel in fish. I can’t say enough about how nice and professional he was. His boat and equipment were top notch. I will definitely using him again for future fishing trips and recommend him to my family and friends.

Jedi James took my son and I out on a slightly windy morning that turned into almost gale force winds. Despite the conditions, James put us on some big big keeper Reds and we had our limit within 2 hours. He then moved us around using an almost Jedi like sense of where the fish were and weren’t, and we caught a nice string of keeper trout. Professional with good gear, easy to talk to with plenty of helpful tips and instruction. You will be very happy with this choice!

I had my 14 year old son with me for a full day trip with James and we had a great time! First thing in the morning on our way out, James told us we would probably need to work at it to limit out due to the weather conditions and that was fine with me. Even with the very windy conditions, James was able to get us off to a quick start with a speckled trout within the first 20 minutes. Shortly after, we hooked a few reds and then moved over to another area where we limited out on reds within a couple of hours. During the day, we must have had at least four to five instances where we had two fish on the line at the same time! James recognized when to change up the bait based on the conditions and put us on the fish pretty much the whole day! He was incredibly patient with my son and did a great job teaching him how to recognize when and how to set the hook based on the whatever we were going after. Overall, an awesome experience! I will be back with my son again and next time I will bring my wife and daughter! Thanks James!
