Hoping to go fishing in the Destin/Fort Walton/Panhandle Area?  A Slice of Life Fishing is here to make it happen! With Captain John and first mate Nick at the helm, you’ll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.  Check us out on Facebook at “A Slice of Life Fishing” to see more details, and inquire about booking direct!

These waters are home to Red Snapper, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Vermilion Snapper, Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper, Wahoo, Gray Triggerfish, Great Barracuda, Blackfin Tuna, and more, depending on conditions. For these species, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Trips with A Slice of Life Fishing are great for kids, so go ahead and bring the whole family along!  Don’t forget to bring snacks and cold beverages to maintain your energy throughout the trip!

Your boat for the day is a brand new 2024 32’ Cobia center console with twin Yamaha 300 engines that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a head on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.

There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.

A couple items to bring include beverages and snacks, alcoholic beverages are allowed. Hats, sunblock and sunglasses are recommended.

Come catch a "Slice of Life" with our fishing charters!

I absolutely loved our trip with these guys. We had a great day on the water and ended up catching a keeper 21lb cobia, several keeper red snappers, kingfish, red groupers , several triggers but they weren’t in season so we didn’t keep them. We hooked up on several beast of sharks that ended up winning the battle but still had a blast and will definitely book with these gentleman again. One more thing is My son is 14 and is true love is fishing and he wants to actually be a charter captain one day. The captain and deckhand noticed his passion for fishing and went above and beyond to make his trip special. When we got back to the docks they put new line on all his rods and set them up like a pro. I will be reaching out soon to them to book another trip maybe in the fall and this will be a longer trip to go out more and try to land some big boys. Thanks again A slice of life charters.

6 Hour Trip (AM) on July 10, 2025

It’d be a huge mistake to book with a different boat and crew! We took a 6-hour morning trip with Slice of Life on July 10th, and it was everything we hoped for and more. Captain John and First Mate Nick were absolutely top-notch funny, professional, and quick to match the vibe of our group of four. It honestly felt like we’d known them for years. They know how to dish it out and take it, which made for a great atmosphere on the water. We hit our 4-man limit of snapper and reeled in several other species along the way. The experience was smooth, well-run, and just plain fun. Highly recommend five stars, no question.

4 Hour Trip (AM) on June 25, 2025

I usually don’t leave reviews but think I should after my experience. Highlights from our 4 hour trip. - John and Nick are good people. - Boat was like new with all the newest gear. - Clean private restroom for my daughter to use. - explained everything and made my family feel comfortable. - happily answered all my questions. ( I ask a lot of questions) - I could tell they had a plan ABCDE really for us to catch fish. - John tried trolling some rods out to his spot first. No takers. He got us over fish and put a rods in everyone hand. We went into anchor mode on the trolling motor and we fished over side the boat. Everyone in my family caught fish with consistent action. My daughter caught the most fish because she listened when he explained exactly what to do. Took the boys a minute or two because we’re hard headed. -we ended up with about 12lbs. of red snapper/ red grouper fillets that John cleaned for us after the trip. - we took 5lbs. Of the fresh fish to the edge restaurant in Destin because they cook your catch for $12.99 per lb. Best meal of the trip! - went home with about $180 in fish.

Great rainy day of fishing!

VERIFIED

4 Hour Trip (AM) on March 24, 2025

Although it rained most of the time we were fishing we had a great time! Capt John and First Mate Nick were great! They put us where we'd catch fish and have a good time despite the weather. The boat was in great shape and well maintained and it's clear they take pride not only in their equipment but also in doing their jobs, which they did exceptionally. I have been coming to Ft. Walton for several year's now and gone fishing on most of those trips. If and when I come back next year I'm going to get back in contact with A Slice of Life and Capt John to schedule another charter! Great fun, great day of fishing spent in the rain! Well done gentlemen!

Great day with Captain John and First Mate Nick! We were on the fish right away which is never given, but always fun! They seemed to know right where to go to get on them all day. Took my 14 yr old son and his friend, and they loved it, and Captain John and Nick were great, working hard all day to make sure we were all having a good time. They do whatever you feel like doing, with advice and guidance along the way. Great boat as well, plenty of room to move around and very clean and well kept. If we come back to the area, we know who we’ll be looking up!
