Hilo Ocean Adventures - Big Game Fishing
Spend the day with Hilo Ocean Adventures and find out what the fishing in Hilo is all about! Having logged many hours on these tides, our captains can tell you all about the local fishery.
Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Mahi Mahi, Indian Threadfish, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Wahoo ('Ono'), Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Skipjack Tuna ('Aku'), Yellowfin Tuna ('Ahi'), and more could be biting, depending on the season. You can expect to do some trolling, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids over age 12 are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. You're welcome to bring snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Your day begins aboard a 35' Wellcraft center console with room for 6 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
A few items to bring include sunscreen (non-spray or tinted), sunglasses, a towel, and rain gear! Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks available on board.
REMINDER: There is a required Non-Resident Marine Fishing License. This must be purchased on your own through Hawai'i DLNR.
The click of a button is the only thing keeping you from a great day on the water with Hilo Ocean Adventures! Full trip amount is due upon booking.

The charter operator canceled on trip date. This is an automated posting.

Had an amazing time on our charter. We caught 2 Ahi and a Mahi and would love to go again. Highly recommend.
The crew was nice. It was very disappointing to spend so much money and go home without any fish. We also got soaking wet which is not something we had expected. A little water is understandable but both my wife and I have been on ocean fishing trips before and had never been completely soaked the way we were by the end of it. It would be much less frustrating if we were reimbursed a little bit for not catching anything. Also the ride was much rougher than we had anticipated.

We enjoyed our fishing trip with captain Devin and first mate Josh were very enthusiastic and joy to fish with. They put us on some fish and gave everyone an opportunity to bring in fish. We went home with plenty of fish. Thanks for a wonderful trip.
I honestly hate to do this but I wish there was a review I could have read before I spent a grand to go out. First off we are a party of 4. They told us to come 15 minutes early. We did, they weren’t there. Texted them with no response. When they got there they unloaded two poles and a couple of bags. When invited to go on the boat we were all told to take our shoes off. No explanation. Had a very long safety talk.. then finally out to the ocean. Went out to the buoy and trolled around and circled it for about four hours. No bites, no action. Then asked us if we wanted to go somewhere else. Well yeah! Then head out to the dark clouds where it’s obviously storming. They of course put their rain coats on before hand. Torrential rain storm. They are the only ones with a roof over their heads. All while circling the buoy. My parents in their 70s the uncaring way they acted was infuriating. They were both laughing and joking with each other the whole time. We finally just asked them to bring us back to shore an hour before the scheduled time. I’ve never been on a boat with more incompetent people.
