CATCHING DINOSAURS Matagorda Alligator Gar 

There’s a monster prehistoric fish with your name on it, and Catching Dinosaurs will help you catch it!

We will target the largest alligator gar possible and catch and release as many as possible without harming them. They are a world class sportfish that can put up outstanding fights. We will use bait and lure to catch them some days we can land over 40 gar.

Families making of a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!

Your vessel for the day is a 18’ SeaArk aluminum fishing boat with capacity for 3 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, as well as lures.

Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group over the age of 18. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.

All gar species will be released unharmed

It’s always wise to bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
