If fishing in Panadura is on your bucket list, look no further than Bowfishing Lanka.
Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Amberjack, Pacific Barracuda, Barramundi, Bonefish, Bonito, Catfish, Clown Knife Fish, Cobia, Giant Trevally, and plenty more. For these species, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Sandun also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear. For the more adventurous among you, there’s bowfishing.
Fish caught during the trip are yours to take with you, so long as they meet regulations. Capt. Sandun can even clean your catch for you. Enjoy it later that day or pack it away for months down the line.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can’t go wrong with snacks!
Your excursion begins aboard a 19’ Viking sportfishing vessel with capacity for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, a fighting chair, everything you need for a productive day on the water. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
It’s never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and a hat. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks included on board.
And that’s it! Your fishing trip with Bowfishing Lanka is just a click away.
