Salt Fly Belize

W2CQ+6R San Pedro, San Pedro, Belize

There's a fish with your name on it in San Pedro and Salt Fly Belize will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Gaspar can tell you all about the local fishery.

These waters are known for Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Cobia, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Groupers, Horse-eye Jack, Jack Crevalle, Snappers, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Gaspar also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.

Salt Fly Belize welcomes kids aboard, so get 'em offline and onto the water! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are also a good idea for a boost of energy when needed!

You'll find yourself aboard a 25' Pelican Bill bay boat that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.

It's never a bad idea to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks available on board.

How often would you rather be fishing? Go on and turn that day dream into a reality with Salt Fly Belize!
