Coelho’s Fishing
Make that daydream about fishing in Covelo a reality, with Coelho Fishing!
Here you won't be far from remote lake waters, including a few honeyholes that only the locals can clue you in on.
The name of the game around here is light tackle fishing, which is what you'll be doing on the day of your trip. You may also jig and bottom fish, bottom fish, spin or cast a popping cork, cast a popping cork for your catch. Miguel will provide rods and reels, as well as lures.
Carp, Pike Perch (Zander), Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, and more can be found in these waters if conditions are right.
Note that your guide practices catch-and-release fishing, so won't be taking any fish home with you after the trip. You're welcome to bring up to 3 anglers on this guided experience. You'll be fishing without a boat or with a float tube, so expect to make your way on foot or to make your way by float tube and come dressed for current weather conditions.
Don't hesitate to send Miguel a message below with any questions you have, including where to meet on the day of your trip.
Everyone in your group should buy a local fishing license ahead of time. You can find out more online, including exceptions that may apply. You're encouraged to dress in layers and the proper footwear (if you aren't sure what that means, just ask). It's never a bad idea to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and bottled water, no matter the weather.
Ready to have the whole family unplug? Then you'll be glad to know that kids are more than welcome. They should always wear life vests, so find out if Miguel has the right size available or bring your own.

My husband loves fishing at home so we were looking for something to be able to squeeze in a little fishing time while on our honeymoon. I’m so glad we found Miguel! My husband didn’t catch anything, but we enjoyed conversation with Miguel and the peaceful escape into nature for a couple hours. Miguel was super helpful with tips and tricks to give the best chance to catch something. He was clearly familiar with the area and the best spots to fish along the river. Thank you!!
I love fishing , especially in new locations, but usually it's very difficult while travelling because you don't know anything about the place, that's why we decided to book a trip with Miguel. And let me tell you, saying that Miguel is a talented fisherman is an understatement! The trip was amazing , different locations and fishing spots , beautiful views , high quality equipment and the best instructor we could ask for. Turns out, Miguel is an award-winning sports fisherman as well! We managed to catch two green coloured bass , first time for me because we don't have that fish where I'm from, so the trip turned out extremely well, 10/10 would recommend and take the trip again!
Booked a fishing trip with Miguel during a Thursday afternoon in September, at some different spots along the Douro river just outside Porto. Miguel is a really nice and friendly guy, as well as an excellent fishing guide. He gave many tips and tricks about fishing in the area. Would recommend him highly. ✨️👍
Good spots and good Equipment unfortunately No Fish caught but it was fun anyways
