A Live One
Owner/Capt Blair Willis began guiding outdoor adventures in HHI in 1996, and running his own boat charters by 2006. He is not only a fishing guide but an engaging host with a wide knowledge of the local waterways and nature.

A Live One is a Freeman Boatworks custom 29' center console. Freshly re-powered for 2025 with Yamaha 300 twin motors, and a full electronics console refresh, it has everything you need for a productive day on the water. It's the only Freeman fishing charter on HHI, a high performance catamaran hull with an unmatched ride. The wide layout of this boat is more akin to a 34' monohull in terms of space, and unquestionably more stable and smoother riding than boats in and above its class. Get there fast and comfortably, with more time to fish!
Backcountry/Inshore trips on A Live One are great for kids and very family-friendly! Child-sized life vests are provided, but feel free to bring your own if preferred. Coastal/Reef trips are age 13+ recommended, and Offshore Full Days are best for 16+. 6 Max Guests for most trips (4 for Offshore Full Days).
Inshore trips are catch-and-release fishing. Choose coastal/reef or offshore options if you're looking to bring home a meal. Contact us if ANY questions. Results greatly vary by season and trip type, and we want to make sure to match you with the best trip for your crew!
All fishing tackle provided. Live bait is often targeted by cast net to start the day, or fresh cut bait as available. Fully licensed charter boat, so no additional personal license is needed. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol ok in moderation; no hard liquor, no glass bottles, and no *wheeled* coolers.
Please be sure to read the Directions for details on picking up your gate pass (!!!) as it is extremely important so you don't miss your trip.

2 Hour Trip – Junior Anglers (7AM)
Great skipper and very knowledgeable
We first found menhaden for live bait. The other captains worked together to locate the menhaden up around Corn Island. We then set out toward the Broad River almost down the coast even w HH airport. Capt Blair was noting how we were early enough to use the high tide change to low tide for the fish to swim against the tide to catch fish. This worked brilliantly as we actually sat between 2 sand bars and anchored. We tried whole menhaden as well as cut bait. Cut bait proved to be the winner as we ended up finding a school of fine toothed sharks. My son caught/released 2, I caught/released 1, and my younger we believe he caught one but it got off before we could get it close enough to the boat. Considering we were catching shark, their razor sharp teeth were cutting the line 3-4 times when we were close to the boat. My 7 yr old and 12 yr old both had a blast and Capt Blair was very patient and explained to them very well and showed/taught them new things about fishing. Would definitely go back out, and certainly recommend Capt Blair. Our was a shorter 2 hr stint, as I wasn’t sure how the boys would take for their first one. He does 2, 3, 5 and even deep sea tours as well.

We had an amazing time
We had a great time! Captain Blair caught live bate and took us to a nice spot to fish. We all caught fish, saw dolphins, sea birds and a big shark. What a fun and relaxing day. Next time we are in Hilton Head we’re booking another trip with Captain Blair!!! He’s awesome!

Amazing charter
Capt. Blair was friendly, and knowledgeable about everything evolved in our day. He knew where the fish were, what they were eating, and even gave us interesting facts about the geography and types of fish. I’d highly recommend going on this charter. Awesome Experience!!!
Captain Blair has been fishing these waters for decades but still shared the same level of excitement as my 6 year old. He is a genuinely good guy with vast knowledge and an AMAZING boat! Great with kids and adults alike! We will be coming back to HH Island next year and will DEFINITELY book another trip with him.

5 Hour Trip – Coastal Reef & Wreck
Quick change -quick fish
Capt Blair and 1st mate Travis did a great change due to rough offshore conditions and we agreed to inshore. He then got us onto fish quick without a long rough day. Great with my 2 teenagers. Id recommend them to others in the area. Nice Freeman boat as well.
