Spend the day with Fish With A Purpose and let them show you what makes the fishing in Groton so memorable!
These waters are known for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Cod, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Flounder, Haddock, Pollock, Black Seabass, Mako Shark, Thresher Shark, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, and more – with any luck, you'll hook into a few!
You'll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. John and Will also offers fly fishing, but be sure to let us know well in advance if you want a fly fishing trip.
Trips with Fish With A Purpose are child-friendly. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
Capt. John will bring you aboard a 28' Other with room for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers, everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is included.
It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.
Don't forget to bring sunblock, a hat, bottled water, and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
