Book your next trip with Valdez Saltwater Adventures and find out what you're missing in Valdez.

You're likely to go after Halibut, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Black Rockfish, Rockfish, Lingcod, Cod, and more with any luck.

During the trip you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

You'll be casting lines from a 32' North River pilothouse with room for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.

You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.

A few items to bring include bottled water, sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

awesome captain
8 Hour Trip – Salmon Fishing on July 18, 20266 adults

Captain Tom is the captain we all hope we get when we book a charter. He was very knowledgeable, great sense of humor, and was willing to do whatever he could to ensure the fishing was good and everyone aboard was having a good time.

salmon on a rainy day
8 Hour Trip – Salmon Fishing on July 17, 20262 adults

Fish weren’t biting well today, but we only tried two spots, I felt like we should have try a couple different spots to see if we could catch a few, but we didn’t, only caught one rock bass between the two of us, there were six of us on the baoar and we only fishe four reels at a time. Boat is not really big enough to fish with six people for salmon without getting tangled up

Captain Will grew up in Northern Minnesota and has had a passion for the outdoors since he was a child. Captain Will entered the U.S. Air Force in 1996 and retired from the U.S. Air Force in May 2016 after providing military meteorological services for over 20 years. In 2001, he moved to Alaska while serving on Active Duty and immediately fell in love with all the incredible opportunities the 49th state has to offer. It didn't take long before his love for the ocean grew and he found himself on the water as much as possible. After 2 combat tours and numerous assignments and temporary duty locations Captain Will retired from the military and jumped into the charter industry in Valdez. In 2017 he established Valdez Saltwater Adventures and hasn't looked back. When Captain Will isn't busy running a boat or with other business matters he enjoys hunting, traveling, and spending time with his wife Marta and his son Aaron at their home in Valdez. It's should come at no surprise at all that much of the little bit of he has off in the summer is spent in a boat fishing with his son, who's has definitely caught the fishing bug! Captain Will's meteorological knowledge, experience fishing and navigating Alaskan waters, and his love for sharing what Alaska has to offer makes him the perfect candidate to help you enjoy your next Alaskan adventure.
