Local species include Amberjack, Cobia, Flounder, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Hogfish, Jack Crevalle, Redfish, Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, Red Snapper, Snook, and more, depending on conditions. You can expect to do some light tackle fishing, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks so that everyone stays happy and energized!

Capt. James runs a 26' Robalo Cayman 246 bay boat with space for 4 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. Capt. James will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.

It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, a hat, long sleeve is recommended, Capt. James provided cooler of ice and bottled water. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Wet lines, fish tails and great memories

6 Hour Trip – Inshore on October 4, 2025

Nothing better than a beautiful day out on the bay. James shows professionalism and is highly knowledgeable when it comes to life on the water. From launching the boat as the sun rises, to ending our day, there was never a time that we weren't catching fish. Snook, reds, trout and grouper, the lines stayed wet the whole time. I look forward to my next trip with Captain James Vass.
