Captain Jay Charters 1 Inshore/Bay
Make the most of your time in Marathon and go fishing with Captain Jay Charters. Your guide for the day is Captain Jason, which allows you to benefit from their knowledge and experience.
These waters are known for Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Bonefish, Cero Mackerel, Cobia, Black Grouper, Goliath Grouper, Lobster, Permit, Mangrove Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, and more – with any luck, you'll have tight lines in no time. You can expect to do some spinning, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Jason also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Jason welcomes children aboard, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can't go wrong with snacks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Your boat for the day is a 23' Parker center console with room for 5 passengers. It comes with everything you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
It's recommended to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
How often would you rather be fishing? Go on and turn that day dream into a reality, with Captain Jay Charters.

From booking the trip to the communication leading up to the day of the charter, Captain Ryan with Captains Js Charters was very professional and easy to deal with! The overall experience was nothing short of exceptional and Captain Ryan made sure that everyone was comfortable, safe, and having a great time! On top of that we caught a variety of fish including some yellowtail, snapper, a remora, a 4’ Goliath Grouper and a “once in a lifetime” 10’ LEMON SHARK! Truly an incredible day with an exceptional Captain!

thank you again. appreciate you fishing with us.

Captain Ryan took my wife and I out to catch sharks and he didn’t disappoint.. we caught 9 of them all within 4 hours! Ryan’s an absolute animal and really knows his stuff. Very friendly, trustworthy and accommodating. This would be a great trip for really anyone who wants to see a shark up close and have a once in a lifetime experience. Can wait to come back and do it again next year! Thank you again!

thank you again. appreciate the great review. let’s do it again

perfect day! the captain was amazing we caught a lemon shark and goliath grouper! storm came but the captain made us feel safe and we continued fishing and ended up with an incredible fishing story. would highly recommended this charter!
We had a good trip out. Ryan was great during our short trip. Knew just thr right spot to take us. Unfortunately, there was a storm coming in that we didn’t realize and the choppy waters made most of our family very sick. I wish the call the night before the trip helped to prepare us more. Thoughts on weather, asking about anyone who may end up sick/ needing medicine so we could prepare. Overall I think Ryan was great given the situation and took us back as soon as we asked.
We had a nice time with Captain Ryan. While our goal was to catch lobsters, they decided to hide that day and we only got one keeper. The boat was clean and everything ran on time. Next time would book fishing rather than lobstering as this seems to be his expertise. Captain Jay was great at communicating after the fact to find out how our day went. He genuinely cares about the clients!

Captains Jay and Ben run the trips for Captain Jay Charter. Capt. Jay grew up fishing the waters of NJ and fell in love with fishing the first time his Grandfather put a rod in his hands. Before moving to the Florida Keys, he vacationed in the Keys more than a few times, and eventually, the lure of this paradise beckoned him to move there. What better place for him to pursue his career? He loves the offshore and inshore action and the great fishery that it holds. Capt. Jay enlisted the help of Capt. Ben, who grew up freshwater fishing in NJ. For his 18th birthday, Ben and his dad chartered a boat in Canada to catch Northern Pike. This was Capt. Ben's first charter, and after seeing how awesome it was to show off the fishery, Capt. Ben set out to earn his captain's license. He joined the military, where he worked on all types of different vessels, eventually earning his 100-ton captain's license. Ben's last stop with the military was in Key West, FL. After falling in love with the fishery there, he didn't want to leave the Keys. Capt. Ben enjoys every trip out on the water. Whether it's calm or rough out, there's always something to catch!
