AJ Fishing Adventures
Book your next trip with AJ Fishing Adventures and find out what makes the fishing in Port Hardy so unique. Your guide for the day is Captain Alex, allowing you to benefit from their sportfishing experience.
Fishing around here will often see you targeting Cod, Common Ling, Flounder, Halibut, Lingcod, Lionfish, Rockfish, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, and more, depending on the time of year.
You'll target your catch by light tackle fishing, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Alex also offers Flounder gigging.
The fish caught are yours to take home, provided they're within size and bag limits. Capt. Alex can even clean your catch for you. Enjoy it later that day or pack it away for months into the future.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Don't forget to bring snacks for a boost of energy when needed!
Your vessel for the day is a 32' Northwest aluminum fishing boat with space for 4 passengers. It has downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Wifi cell service available for small charge. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's recommended to bring sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Beautiful boat, and Alex and Dave were on point when it came to finding fish. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and worked hard to make sure everyone had a great experience. The conditions were excellent, we caught our full quota, and the action kept us engaged throughout the trip. It was a well-organized day from start to finish, and we truly enjoyed every minute on the water. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again and highly recommend this charter to anyone looking for a great fishing trip.

I was a commercial fisherman for 44 years. I was one of the biggest producers in B. C. I fished for salmon (trolling)halibut, prawns, tuna,I had cancer surgery in 2010.knowing then that I could not continue commercial fishing because of the labour intensity I choose to do charters.knowing this work would keep me close to the ocean.I had my boat custom built for my needs sparing no expense. This boat has everything imaginable, electronics, full galley, electric flush toilet, safety comes first.Self inflating lifeboat, self inflating mustang pfd's Ais vhf satellite wifi, cell service, mob ladder. I aim to accommodate my quest's every way I can. I usually manage to get every one their limit of salmon in short time. The experience I've had for 44 years commercial fishing is the reason I do so well guiding. I'm a modest man speak little of my accomplishments. I live at Brentwood Bay,Spend the summer months in Port Hardy. This is just a little about me. I look forward to seeing you have a big smile on your face when the fish start jumping in the boat that makes my day!
