Amberjack, Great Barracuda, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Jack Crevalle, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Blacktip Shark, Red Snapper, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and more inhabit these waters if you come at the right time of year.
Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself fishing with heavy tackle, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Allen also offers fly fishing. Gear is provided but feel free to bring your own special rod.
Children are welcome, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Children under 13 must wear life vests when on deck and underway, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Feel free to bring your own youth life jackets fit for your child. They are more comfortable.
Your boat for the day is a 28' Sportsman center console with space for 4 passengers. It comes with outriggers, all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live and or dead bait is included.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Before coming aboard, you will need a Texas All water fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks and snacks or lunch etc… Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

We had an amazing 8-hour off-shore trip with Captain Big Als “Captain “on the “Just Joan II” out of Padre Island/Corpus Christi. From the moment we met at the dock, the boat was immaculate and all gear was ready to go. Our Captain was incredibly patient with us with bait hooks and untangle lines from time to time. Even when the fish were playing hard to get, the Captain worked tirelessly to put us on the water and shared great local knowledge and are way back to port we came across a school of dolphins, our captain gave us a 40-min detour that was just magical, again just another + to an already a ++ fishing trip. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will definitely rebook next time we have friends come to town!" I truly Captain Al for giving us an expectance that will never forget.
Dave Thank you for the kind words. Was a gorgeous day on the Gulf catching several Mahi and some Barracudas on the troll. The school of Dolphins we encountered pushing the bait balls was a spectacle of mother nature. Game fish and Dolphin (mammals) pushing bait up and the birds whacking them from above. Then us trolling around them hooking up on some King and Spanish Mackerel. I enjoyed taking your group out and look forward to taking you out on the water in the future. Capt. Allen
The crew was absolutely fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and professional from start to finish. We had an incredible trip and were able to catch a ton of barracuda, sharks, and tuna. The crew worked hard to keep us on the fish and made the entire experience a blast from beginning to end. I’d definitely recommend this charter to anyone looking for an awesome day on the water!
