Depending on conditions, you might hook into Rockfish, White Seabass, Pacific Barracuda, Calico Bass, California Sheephead, Mahi Mahi, Flounder, Sculpin, Mako Shark, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail Amberjack, and whatever else is biting. Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Wenyu also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Shark Maritime is a kid-friendly charter service, so get 'em offline and onto the water! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also remember to bring snacks so that everyone stays happy and energized!
You'll be dropping lines from a 48' Pacifica sportfishing vessel with space for 6 passengers. It has outriggers, and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Wenyu will provide rods and reels for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
You will need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's recommended to bring sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.

They provided snacks, drinks, and multiple beds of our choice. I would know because I was on one of them the entire time although I was sick, I was having a fantastic time catching fishes would go again definitely on an empty stomach and maybe take the entire bottle of sea sick pills 10 out of 10 would go again

The experience did not match the description on your website. Although a deckhand was advertised, this was a one-man operation. Because there was no crew to assist us, we had to bait our own hooks and unhook our own fish with very little help from the captain. Furthermore, the captain spoke very little English, making communication extremely difficult. To conclude the trip, we asked to have our catch cleaned, but we were told no. As a result, we only caught small fish and most of our group could not take any fish home.

4 Hour Trip – Nearshore Relaxing on September 13, 2026 • 5 adultsThe captain was a good guy, however there was no mate so he had to do that job as well, we caught fish ( mostly shark) but thats just how it goes, when we got back to dock, he wanted to give us the fish whole, not even gutted, and i requested that he fillet them, he said he didnt know how! Ohh, one more thing, he charged us for lost sinkers, hard to keep those when sharks are biting 👎🏼

10 Hour Pleasure Trip – Catalina on July 19, 2026 • 6 adultsAt the beginning of the trip, there were tuna boiling everywhere. Even with limited boat traffic, the captain did not seem to understand that to catch the tuna you need to go to where they are boiling. Once we switched to calico bass fishing, we caught a few but the captain did not seem to want to ever move spots, having us constantly drift the same shoreline where we would barely catch any fish. All in all, the best part of the trip was not the fishing and was the boat ride out there and boat ride back where I slept. There is a $300 cash fuel charge that is not stated until after booking. We were also told there was a $200 charge for live bait when the booking stated it was included. When asked to fish for yellowtail we were told it was additional $800 charge when it was stated it was included. When I inquired about this, they said it was an error on their part and it would be included. However, we were assigned a captain that had no idea what he was doing beyond very basic fishing and he spoke little English which made communication difficult. We has 6 very experienced fisherman on the charter and caught at most 10 small fish due to the inexperience of the captain. I would not recommend this to any serious angler. It was a very expensive trip that was very disappointing.

A little tip: If you’re prone to seasickness, you can take one seasickness pill before bed the night before, and another one early in the morning before the trip. This usually works very well!
