I took my family on a charter with Captain Vittorio Milano while visiting Italy and it was a fantastic experience. We wanted to catch a giant squid which he hooked us up on, then we moved in closer to shore and bottom fished where we caught Sgambro (Italian mackerel) orata and Boga (types of sea bream). After the trip we met his family and his mother prepared some fantastic Italian dishes from our catch. It was a memorable experience for my family that we will always cherish. I recommend that if you ever visit the Sorrento/Praiano area and like to fish you give him a call. He grew up there and knows the waters.

One of the best experiences our family ever had — and I mean that. We booked a squid fishing excursion with Vittorio Milano out of Praiano, and it exceeded every expectation. Vittorio was communicative from the very first message, making planning easy and giving us full confidence in what to expect. On the day of the excursion, he was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely wonderful company — warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about sharing his craft. What set this experience apart was what happened after the fishing: Vittorio brought our fresh catch to his family's restaurant, Trattoria San Gennaro, and had it cooked for our dinner. Farm-to-table has nothing on sea-to-table in Praiano. The meal was extraordinary, and sitting down to eat something we had pulled from the water just hours earlier, in this beautiful corner of southern Italy, was truly magical. In two weeks of traveling through Italy — a country full of once-in-a-lifetime moments — this excursion stood out as the highlight. I cannot recommend Vittorio highly enough. If you're on the Amalfi Coast, make this a priority.
