Make the most of winter in true Northern Ontario style with a fully guided ice fishing adventure from Backwater Outfitters! Surrounded by endless shorelines, untouched wilderness, and frozen back lakes, Manitouwadge is the perfect location for anglers of every skill level — from first-timers to seasoned hardwater hunters.
Your experienced guide will take you out to one of the region’s productive lakes targeting Walleye, Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Northern Pike, and more. Some lakes are easy walk-ins, while others are only accessible by snowmobile — giving you the chance to chase fish where few people ever go. If you don’t have your own machine, just reach out — alternate arrangements may be available.
Once we get to the lake, everything will be provided: drilled holes, a heated insulated tent, quality rods and tackle, sonar electronics, live bait, and safety gear. Warm up with hot drinks between bites and enjoy the peaceful quiet of winter in the North.
All equipment is fully provided — you simply show up dressed for the cold and ready to fish. Families and kids are welcome, and we’re always happy to teach new anglers how to jig, read the sonar, or land their first fish through the ice!

In warm weather, we fish from a 16' Starcraft or a smaller aluminum boat; when the ice sets in, we switch to shelters, augers, and sleds. My focus is providing safe, enjoyable experiences and memorable days on the water — or ice — for anglers of all skill levels.
