If you plan on fishing in Cancún, look no further than Cesar Simoneen. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Cesar can tell you all about them.
Local species include Amberjack, Blue Marlin, Longbill Spearfish, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Sailfish, Tigerfish, Rockfish, Mahi Mahi, Goliath Grouper, Great Barracuda, and more with any luck. Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Don't forget to bring snacks to keep their stamina going!
Your boat for the day is a 32' sportfishing vessel with space for 8 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods and reels are included. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, so all you have to do is look forward to your trip! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Some essentials to bring are sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. Time to make it happen, with Cesar Simoneen!
