If you're ready to try jug fishing for catfish, we've got you covered with Snapshot Charters. With Captain Casey at the helm, you'll benefit from years of knowledge and experience.
These trips exclusively target medium size catfish that make excellent table fare. While rod and reel fishing may produce larger fish, these trips are after excitement in numbers, and filling the freezer. We have caught 50+ keepers on many trips so fish cleaning is not included in the price, but is available at additional cost.
This is a very easy style of fishing so it makes a great trip for kids of all ages! Please bring a life vest for kids under 12, or let the captain know age/size/weight so one can be provided. Feel free to bring your own snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly! If someone in your group tends to be a messy eater, please no Cheetos or skittles.
We have plenty of water and Gatorades for our guests, if you wish to bring your own drinks please bring a small cooler, or preferably we can put them in the onboard cooler. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Your boat for the day is a 22' Bay boat with capacity for 4 passengers. This type of fishing can get a bit hectic, some clients choose to have a group of 3 to allow space for a mate. This is completely optional, discuss your goals for the trip with the captain to ensure the best experience. There is no head onboard. There is usually a porty potty at the ramp.
Capt. Casey will provide all the fishing equipment needed.
Before the trip, you will need a NC fishing license. Almost all of the fishing area is 'joint waters' so coastal or inshore will work. These can be purchased online, ask the captain if you have any questions.

We have been fishing with Casey for many years. He is an expert at fishing and boating. He and his wife, Jeni, are well known in local fishing. Doing things the right way is important to him and safety first. He has the latest and best equipment. He always ensures our family has a memorable experience after a trip with him. He is patient with inexperienced fisherman and very patient with children. He knows fishing and he knows the Chowan River. Yes he is family but our experiences are real. A few pictures from our last trip are included here. If you are looking for a knowledgeable captain with patience and a stickler for details, Casey is a top choice.
Captain Casey was absolutely incredible. It was amazing with our children. He found fish even on a day where the fishing might not have been great. He was very personal and we will absolutely book with him again. This was a top notch service from top to bottom thanks again Casey you Rock!
My two boys and I spent a chilly half day in January with Capt. Casey on the Chowan River and we all had a blast! He was patient with us we learned a new style of fishing and really turned it loose once we got the swing of things. Excellent memories of an excellent trip.
