With over 20 years of experience fishing the East Coast, Captain Chris Owens (USCG OUPV certified) brings serious knowledge and passion to every trip. He got his start as a mate at Bridge Tender Marina in Wilmington, NC while attending UNCW, where he honed his skills and competed in top tournaments like the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and the White Marlin Open. After seasons chasing sailfish in West Palm Beach and running his own boat, Chris joined the 18 Reeler crew and now fishes full-time out of Pirates Cove. Chris' mate Brandon also brings well over 20 years of fishing experience on the East Coast and fishing in places such as Florida and the Bahamas. They have over 40 years experience between them and will make sure your time on the water is an amazing experience.
Depending on the season, these waters are known for Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Cobia, Red Drum, and more.
You'll be fishing aboard the 18 Reeler, a Custom Carolina sportfish powered by twin Cummins diesels, cruising comfortably at 23 knots. With a wide 16' beam and Carolina flare, she delivers a smooth, dry ride offshore. The boat is fully equipped with modern electronics, premium tackle, and an air-conditioned salon with seating, TV and stereo and a private restroom for your comfort.

First off I want to say about how great Chris, and Brandon were with my son! They put us on as many fish as we could handle!! After trying the first spot and coming up empty handed. We headed to the next spot and, IT WAS ON! Amberjack galore, we brought in more than we could keep track of to the boat, and some tanks to and broke a few off! After they wore us out on AJs. We trolled for some mahi. The guys asked if we wanted troll for some Spanish so my son could reel in a few and put us right on the fish again and we caught a bunch of spanish and some big ones once again. I can’t thank Capt Chris and Brandon enough!!!

Chris has over 20 years of fishing experience up and down the east coast. He first began mating and working at the Bridge Tender Marina in Wilmington, NC while at school at UNCW. While there, he gained tons of knowledge and began fishing tournaments such as The Big Rock and The White Marlin Open. He also fished in West Palm Beach for a couple winters chasing sailfish. After that he went on to purchase his own boat and fishing on his own, before joining the 18 Reeler crew. Chris has fished privately over the past few years on the 18 Reeler. They were able to land a spot on the Pirates Cove chater fleet this year and are looking forward to full time fishing. Chris has a passion for fishing and loves to see people catch fish and having a blast on the water. Come take a trip with Chris and see what its all about!!
