If you're ready to try fishing in Caye Caulker, we've got you covered with Belize Connection Travel. Your guide for the day is Captain Ebony and Captain Fabian, which means you'll tap into their professional experience.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Cubera Snapper, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Skipjack, Jack Crevalle, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Horse-eye Jack, Red Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Yellowtail Amberjack, Black Grouper, Great Barracuda, Pink Snapper, Wahoo, and who knows what else!
On the day of your trip you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Young ones are welcome, so get 'em offline and onto the water! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Also remember to bring snacks to keep up those energy levels!
Your trip begins aboard a 32' Skiff with room for 8 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
A few items to bring include a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.
