My fiance booked the trip for me. She is not a fishing person but I live in Sarasota FL in the winter and fish weekly offshore and spend the summer on Cape Cod fishing off Nantucket. You can say I am a bit crazy about fishing and since I am part Italian and in Rome for 5 days she thought I should fish while she went to a spa. I arrived at the launch site at 6 a.m. I had communicated with Adriano on WhatsApp for him to get my license and discuss time and place to meet and a bit about techniques. When I arrived he launched the boat and very soon we were fishing. Despite his suggestion otherwise, he speaks plenty of English and I speak zero Italian. He explained that with his double new Hummingbird fish finders we could see both my jig and the large Welscatfish on the screen. When we saw them it was a bit like a video game to get them to follow the lure and bite it. It took a few minutes to get used to it but soon thereafter I began catching them. Smaller fish at first but eventually a large one weighing maybe 60 or 70 lbs. He brought a ton of fresh live Canadian nightcrawlers (we did not even use them all) and he would bait 6 or 7 at a time. The boat is a small custom aluminum bass type boat but plenty comfortable for this type of fishing. He actually customizes boats like this as a second job. His equipment is high-end. I caught 7 or 8 fish in the 6 hours that we fished and saw MANY more on the screen. It was a great way to spend a day and Adriano is as cordial and kind of a person as you can meet. Highly recommend. He also mentioned that he does lake fishing for bass and many fresh water species which I would try next time.
