On a charter with me, we will primarily be sight-fishing Mosquito Lagoon’s world-class redfish fishery. My 16-foot skiff is ideal for this fishery, and I will push-pole us through shallow grass flats where the opportunity to see and stealthily pursue slot and over-slot sized redfish makes for a thrilling, memorable experience. On any given day, dozens to hundreds of tailing redfish can often be observed in water less than 1.5’ deep. If weather conditions aren’t ideal for sight-fishing, speckled trout, redfish, and the occasional snook or tarpon can readily be caught blind-casting artificials.
I provide all spinning rods, reels, and tackle. Fly angling is definitely welcome as this fishery is ideal for carefully casted, unweighted or lightly weighted flies; however, I do not supply fly gear. Unless customers strongly prefer fishing with bait, we will fish with artificial lures (e.g., Gulps, Z-Man plastics, topwaters, spoons, etc.). Fishing licenses for all clients are included in the purchase of a charter with me.
I encourage catch-and-release, although I am happy to accommodate anglers who want to keep legal-sized speckled trout, black drum, or other species. Redfish in Mosquito Lagoon are closed to harvest, so all will be released. I can filet and bag any fish kept at no additional charge.
POLARIZED SUNGLASSES ARE HIGHLY, HIGHLY ENCOURAGED (i.e., REQUIRED). Bring comfortable, light-soled shoes, as well as appropriate sun protection and rain gear. I will bring plenty of water, but customers should plan on bringing their own snacks and additional drinks. Alcohol is allowed (in moderation—NO GLASS bottles).
