Paquera Fishing and Tours
Puntarenas has a fish with your name on it, so let Paquera Fishing and Tours help you catch it!
Amberjack, Goliath Grouper, Pacific Crevalle Jack, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin, Spotted Rose Snapper, Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Roosterfish, and more could be biting, depending on conditions. On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light tackle.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Paquera Fishing and Tours operates a 29' Mako center console that can carry up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. The captain has rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask whether you'll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. Mates often work for tips and it's customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don't leave home without sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks included on board.
Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Paquera Fishing and Tours!
