Within an hour of Traverse City there are famous trout streams, gin clear bass water and inland lakes that contain a wide variety of species including bass, musky, pike and walleye. With over 25 years of guiding experience i understand what it takes to have a good day on the water. Even if the fish aren't cooperating there is plenty to explore, try and learn.
Muskellunge (Musky), Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Brown Trout, and more could be biting if you cast your line at the right time of year.
During the trip you might be spinning, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Alex also offers fly fishing and has has top of the line SAGE rods and reels for clients to use.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. You're welcome to bring snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
You'll be casting lines from a 20' Lund fishing with space for 4 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. River trips take place out of a 16' Clacka Craft with room for 2 anglers.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures.
Before coming aboard, you may need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's recommended to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. There will be some water on board.
