Big Mother Bay Fishing runs fishing trips around the bay waters that surround South Padre Island, Texas. These fisheries offer a range of tasty and feisty fish to catch, with Reds, Trout, and Snook leading the way. But, there’s much more to catch, and Capt. Kevin will help you make the most out of your trip.
Year round, these waters prove to be lucrative fishing spots, but to have a blast, you will need someone who’s versed in getting the fish to bite. Capt. Kevin has accommodated numerous repeat customers and will cater to novice and pro anglers with same professionalism.
You will join Kevin and launch into Lower Laguna Madre waters. There, you will be able to target Red Drum, Black Drum, Trout, Flounder, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, Snook, Mangrove Snapper, and more. Capt. Kevin will supply the light tackle to get around these beauties, and it is included in the trip rates.
To get to these hot spots, you will be boarding a 22’ Shoalwater center console that can take up to four people. She is powered by a 150 HP Yamaha HDPI engine and can reach the speeds of up to 45 knots. The boat is rigged with GPS, a Hummingbird fishfinder, stores life jackets, features a live bait well and two coolers.
You can try a variety of techniques, using either artificial lures or live bait. You can try drift fishing, bottom fishing, jigging, spinning, popping, or even fly fishing - but bring your own fly fishing gear.
Capt. Kevin will supply rods, reels, tackle, ice, water, with the option of filleting your catch. You should bring a valid fishing license, snacks and drinks. Pack sunglasses, sunblock, a cap, comfortable clothes, and a non-marking shoes. Also, bring a camera to get a photo of your catch. Come along for a nice day out.
