Ambition Charters

Military Road
Watsons Bay NS, Australia

Ambition Charters is run by one of the most experienced captains in the Watsons Bay area - Captain Ivan. He has been fishing for over 50 years now, and many of those years have been spent with the Sydney Game Fishing Club tournament fishing for big game fish, winning and placing high on the score boards. Next to being an excellent captain and marine life lover, Ivan is a fun and intelligent person who will make sure you have an adventure of a lifetime on his boat - The Ambition, and will teach you anything you need to know about the techniques, fish and the area.

You will fish aboard his 40 foot Precision flybridge boat, which was originally built in 1987 and restored in 2010. It is powered by two 370 HP Iveco engines with a maximum cruising speed of 29 knots, and has a capacity for 6 guests. The boat is fully equipped with all the safety features including a liferaft, a CPR-trained crew and fire extinguishers. It also has the latest Furuno electronics including a GPS, a VHF radio, a radar and an excellent fishfinder. You will also find a flybridge, toilet, shower, a kitchen with a refrigerator and a TV aboard this boat. The icebox will be used to store your catch until you return to the shore, and please note, all Marlin species are strictly catch and release.

Ambition Charters will take you fishing in the pristine blue waters of Watson Bay and offshore into the deep. You will be targeting Black, Blue and Striped Marlin, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna and Yellowtail Amberjack. Captain Ivan will provide you with the necessary equipment in form of Shimano rods, reels and tackle, live and artificial baits, and a fishing license. You will be able to use the fighting chair, outriggers, centerriggers, tuna tubes, a livewell and will also have a first mate on hand. The crew will clean and fillet you catch so you can take it home, too.

I have been a fisherman since I was a kid and developed a love for the seas and all that lives in and on the oceans. It is my passion...I have been a member of the Sydney Game Fishing Club for over 30 years and have fished competitively along the East Coast of NSW from Bermagui to Ballina for all the Game fish species found along our coast...

What an experience! Ivan, the captain is a master at locating fish. His experience and knowledge is the best in NSW. Not only does he increase your chances of a hookup, you take away a learning experience from the whole day. My son, Patrick Easson tagged his first marlin -  a very feisty black. You could really sense the anticipation of a hookup every minute of the day. The crew are constantly changing tactics, lures and layouts. Ask a question and it’s answered thoughtfully. Even if you’re an accomplished angler, if you have never caught a marlin, it’s worth the money just to get that extra knowledge. Ivan, your’re a master skipper. Thanks again
Peter Easson
