Overall we didn’t have a great time. The seas were rough (choppy with six foot swells), and both my kids were sick pretty much the whole time, despite taking bonine. And we only caught one really small Mahi Mahi. But that’s not the fault of the captain, first mate or boat, all of which were first class. It was just a bad day fishing, and there are lots of those. The crew did what they could and tried to help my seasick kids the best they could. In the end, while it wasn’t a very good day, we’d definitely give Mahi Mahi another chance with hopefully better conditions and better results.

  First off, Bartolo’s communication was first rate and Narciso and Willy did their jobs well. This was a family trip for us. The taxi arrived on time and after a few formalities we were on the water. I talked to Narciso about target species, he said we would target mahi but recently they had been catching tuna. I told him a tuna would be great for the table but I don’t care about mahi as we’ve caught plenty of them.  What we really wanted was a marlin.
  The fishing was slow after about two and half hours we’d only had one bite and no hook ups, then an outrigger popped and the line took off. We were hooked up to a marlin. It jumped, it tale danced, it was exciting. We had it on for about 15 minutes but unfortunately we were not good enough to land it.
  Would I go fishing with Willy and Narciso again.  Hell yes. Would I let my 14 year old son fight the fish of a life time?  I don’t know, maybe not.  This was not the first time I’ve tried for a marlin but it is the closest I’ve come.
  A couple of side notes: First, it was a little rough, my daughter did get seasick. If you’re prone to motion sickness do take some Dramamine. Second, I left my phone in the taxi after the trip. I contacted Bartolo through fishbooker and even though he was visiting family in Europe he was able to contact Narciso immediately, long story short, I had my phone delivered back to the resort in about an hour.

Crew did everything possible to catch fish but sometimes they just aren’t biting! We caught something at least and will definitely use them again next time we are back in DR! We were visiting on a cruise ship, and I picked us up at the pier and arrange ride back to pier after fishing! Nice big clean boat with shade.

Although the seas were rough and people being sick caused us to cut our trip short and head back in, Captain Bart and first mate were excellent. We caught 2 barracuda and nothing else. It’s called fishing, not catching, for a reason. Certainly in no way can be attributed to a boat or its crew!!
