The area's beautiful bayous and the Barataria Basin offer some of the most amazing fishing in the South. The waters are home to Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Flounder, Sheepshead, Bass, and many more.
Big Dog Fishing Charters caters to your specific needs and wishes whether it's your first time on the water or you're an experienced angler. Your captain will guide you through the basics before you make your first cast. As well as that, he will assist you throughout the adventure.
All the charters are private and usually depart at a safe light. Morning trips typically last approx. 6.5 hours, which allows you plenty of time to master the cast and make a great catch possible. Afternoon trips last approx. 5 hours.
You will be fishing aboard 21-24' vessels with outboard engines that will power you and three fishing buddies to the hottest grounds in the area. As well as that, the modern navigational and fish-finding electronics will save you time while searching for fish.
All trips come with gear, tackle, bait, and lures. When you're done fishing, the captain will clean and bag the catch for you. All you have to do is purchase fishing licenses, grab some food and drinks, and hop on board!

Sunrise Departure - 6+ Hour Charter on April 9, 2025 • 4 adultsI spent a few days researching charters in the area because I’m from Massachusetts and let me tell you they are TopDog for a reason. Captain was knowledgeable and friendly and with in 5 minutes of arriving to the fishing location I caught 2 fish. Then ended an amazing trip with a truly great fight from a monster red fish. You won’t be disappointed in the slightest.also including ones that were to small we easily caught over 30 fish on the day

Big dog assured me they would take us out and make a good trip. Captain Chad expertly handled the wind and rough water. He kept us comfortable and safe and put us on fish. My 10 year old outfished us all and it was a great day on the bayou. Highly recommend this fishing outfit.

Sunrise Departure - 6+ Hour Charter on May 19, 2023 • 2 adultsMy wife and I went out with Captain Barry. We had great weather for the day. Captain Barry chose to go to the bay rather than follow the other 18 boats back to where they caught reds the day before. Great choice! We were on fish right away. No reds, but we caught trout. Hits on every cast. And a bonus Black Drum. When the bite slowed he moved us to another spot and we were on fish again, but bigger this time. To top it off we had dolphins all around us at the end of the day swimming right up to the boat and chasing after the fish we hooked. Captain Barry was great to fish with and talk to. We had a great day with him. Afterward, he cleaned out fish while we went and had a beer at Joe’s Landing. We took some our fish to Jan’s Cajun restaurant where they grilled and fried our fish and it was fantastic. We highly recommend giving Big Dog Charters a try. They do it right!

Sunrise Departure - 6+ Hour Charter on March 18, 2023 • 2 adultsMy husband and I wanted to have a new fishing experience (cork bobber fishing in the bayou) for our anniversary while in New Orleans. We booked it a few days ahead and they were able to accommodate us with no problem. We spent the day with Captain Chad...my husband knows a lot of captains and worked on a party boat for 20 years, and he said Chad was a great captain! He made sure we caught some fish and he took us to many spots instead of sitting in one or two unfruitful spots for hours. We visit NOLA often and we plan to try to book with Captain Chad when we come back over and over again. Such a great day in spite of the windy and cold conditions and no alligator sightings....thanks Big Dog Fishing Charters!

Fishing was tough this time of year with the weather being inconsistent. Slow start but finished strong both days! Big dog charters had multiple guides. Not just one. We had Chad, my go to guy for now on. Only planned to fish one day and instead, fished 2 days. Can't go wrong with him!
