Road Work Ahead offers fishing charters on the waters of Long Island Sound. Being based in Stamford Harbor, they have the privilege of fishing for trophy sized Striped Bass and Bluefish. They can also fish for reef dwellers like Blackfish, Sea Bass, and Porgies.

In the fall, they specialize in the elusive False Albacore Tuna which migrate into the Long Island Sound for 4-5 weeks during their fall run.

You will fish aboard a very sound 31-foot Cabo Express, powered by two 300 HP Yanmar engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 38 knots. This boat is an excellent fishing platform and includes Garmin GPS, as well as a Garmin fish finder to locate the best fishing spots in the area.

The boat also features a live well for the bait, an icebox for the catch, and outriggers to maximize your chance of catching fish. There is also a toilet on board which is a plus when you take out the family.

Road Work Ahead will provide you with the fishing gear that includes rods, reels, tackle, and bait. You'll also have a fishing license and your catch will be cleaned and filleted at the end of your trip, so you can just relax and enjoy your day on the water with an amazing crew.

We are so happy we booked with Captain Lou and had a fantastic fishing trip. His vessel 'Roadworks Ahead' is simply brilliant. Well equipped, comfy, an ideal fishing platform and stocked with tackle that made me green with envy! Captain Lou was superb. A friendly, open and honest gentleman with years of fishing expertise. He knew exactly where to hit the marks, what bait/lures work best for the conditions and was absolutely brilliant with the younger fishing team. We thoroughly enjoyed his company. Honestly, if you are looking for a great charter, look no further. We can not recommend Captain Lou highly enough. Thanks for an amazing day!! :-)

This was an awesome experience for my grandsons, son in law and me. Fish were plentiful and the mix of blues and stripers perfect. Having 3 bid fish on at the same time was really exciting and a scramble. Pictures were hard to come by as we were all busy catching fish and routing on others.

Trip was great. Captain Lou was knowledgeable, friendly, and tried multiple spots to try and catch fish. Since the fish weren’t biting, he even extended the trip until we caught some porgies to take home.

Captain Lou holds a USGC OUPV 6 Pack License and has been fishing on Long Island Sound since 1975. He started fishing with his father and brother DJ on their 20 foot Seacraft the 'My 3', this is where they picked up the skills needed to catch fish. Captain Lou loves being on the water and sharing the experiance of catching fish with his guests. Capt. Lou has fished world wide and does promote catch and release of any fish that will not be consumed for the preservation of the sport for future generations.
