You and your party will absolutely enjoy it aboard the “Wendy Kay”. She is a 35’ Duffy boat, which comes powered by a 436 HP Caterpillar engine. The “Wendy Kay” is a spacious vessel with plenty of room for groups up to six guests and is ideal for crabbing and shrimping charters.
Croatan Charters welcomes anglers of all levels and expertise. Enjoy a “hands-on” experience pulling the shrimp net. Sort through the catch to retrieve shrimp and crabs, and who knows, you might even catch fish that are legal to keep.
The other part of the adventure is Crabbing Pots. When the group helps to pull the pots, shake out the catch, bait the pots, and reset it, you can truly experience being part of the team. Bring your children with you: there is nothing better than seeing a child’s smile when they see their catch!
On your day out, you will be able to have a non-stop action and enjoy the teamwork. You will divide your tome into 2 hours of crabbing and 2 hours of shrimping.

Unfortunately, the boat had mechanical failures that required time to fix. The captain informed me in a timely fashion so that I could make other arrangements. I hope they’re able to sort things out and get back up and running.

4 Hours of Pure Fun
Our trip was amazing. 4 adults 2 kids and CaptIn Walker was fantastic. Finn was his only mate that day and he was great as well. We dropped nets to drag in approximately 8lbs of fresh beautiful shrimp. We harvested baskets and left with a full bushels of beautiful blue crab. Walker let us help with nets and baskets and everyone had an amazing time. We are from upstate N.Y. and this was a totally new experience that we will definitely do again and definitely with Croatan Charters. Thanks walker for your excellent hospitality and knowledge to answer all our crazy questions. Oh and Lewis loved sitting in the captain seat. Jim & Sandi from upstate N.Y

4 Hour Trip (Noon)
4 hour trip with Croatan charters is a great day!
My spouse and I took our two kids (6 & 8) on the 4 hour tour that departed at 11 AM. The captain (actually Captain Mike’s son) and first mate were so great with us and the kids and made sure we had a good time. They were clearly very proficient in both crabbing and fishing. We pulled in a bushel of crabs and almost a dozen fish too, which seemed pretty good for the time of day and before peak crabbing season. They even cleaned our fish for us when we got back to the dock! Probably could’ve enjoyed the 2 hour option, but since the weather was so nice, we didn’t mind the extra time in the boat. Helpful tips I’m glad we received before going: 1) bring water and snacks. 2) don’t drink too much water because there’s no bathroom! 3) make sure you have cash to tip (20% at least) and pay your final installment of the fees. Absolutely recommend this charter to others. We had success in our haul and a very enjoyable trip!

Fishing with Mike
This is an excellent charter! We had the best time catching and sorting shrimp as well as pulling crab pots! This is an experience for all ages! I don't say any of these things lightly. As an avid angler of both fresh and saltwater, you can rest assured they'll do their best to put something on the table!! Thank you Captain Mike, Captain Walker and James! You guys are extremely friendly and professional! They knew exactly where the shrimp were and loaded us down with many meals worth of seafood! Service is top notch! I've already got the nod of approval from my wife to book another trip. God willing we will soon!

Awesome Experience
The whole family had a great trip. The whole team was great. They were responsive prior to the trip and made sure everyone had fun during the trip.The boat had a canopy over it so it was shaded which made the trip comfortable. We came home with enough shrimp and grabs to feed our house of 15. We still have more to eat:). Our 8,10, and 12year old were all engaged and learned a lot. Highly Recommend as we will do it again!
