Finquest Sportfising is an ideal choice for a Lake Michigan fishing charter. The captain has over 40 years of experience on the lake, having lived and fished Kenosha his whole life.
Finquest Charters uses all top-of-the-line equipment and all of the upcoming innovations and advances in the Great Lakes fishing. The captain will take you out aboard a spacious 35-foot Trojan motor yacht. With an open cockpit layout and removable screens, the vessel is weatherproof. It meets and even exceeds all U.S.C.G. safety and equipment requirements. Inside, there is a coach, a v-berth, and a dinette, as well as a clean bathroom with an electric flush toilet. The boat comes powered by twin 350 HP Mercruiser C.I. V-8 engines to push through Lake Michigan. Perfect for accommodating up to six anglers, it is fully rigged with state-of-the-art navigational electronics and sport fishing equipment.
The open water fishing season starts mid-April, when the Brown Trout and Coho Salmon fishing begins. Mid-May brings the “hottest bite on the lake” - Coho that range from 3 to 6 lbs. In mid-June the weather gets more stable and the fish are getting bigger. The captain heads offshore to the deeper waters to get a “Grand Slam” in his cooler.
July through August is the trophy time with the fish at their peak size of the year. Depending on the water temperature and the weather, you can go fishing in very shallow water.
There is less traffic on the water in September and October but the fishing can be quite hot. It is the best time to chase 3-year-old Kings, Rainbows, and Lakers. Lake Trout spawn in November and can put on the feed bag before that.
All trips come inclusive with exclusive Shimano Talora rods, Tekota reels, tackle, and lures. The captain will send your catch home cleaned and bagged, ready to go right into the frying pan! Want to increase the amount of catch in your cooler? The captain recommends 6 or 8 hr trips.
Please note that two-day fishing licenses are $15. each.

Like fishing with a friend
I went fishing with Captain Tim and Finquest charters and had a tremendous experience. The meeting location is very easy to find, is in a safe location and parking is free. Captain Tim arrived early and was ready to go. We left as soon as we got settled on the boat, before the scheduled start time. The Captain is friendly and didn't seem to mind any of my two trillion questions that I asked him. He was a great source of information in regards to the history, the area and salmon fishing. He was quite social for it being so early in the morning. When we got to the area where we were going to fish, Captain Tim was explaining the different depths, how much line was being put out, trolling speed and all of the other things that I was interested in. As soon as the Captain set the first line, he began letting out line on the second rod and we had one on. Captain Tim was calm throughout, giving helpful instructions and within ten minutes of reaching the fishing grounds, we had one in the boat. Shortly after getting the rods back out, there were three fish on at once, which was only a problem because we only had two people fishing. Two of the three were landed, as one jumped off as it sat in a rod holder. We kept fishing until we caught all that we wanted to take. We had a great day with a lot of laughs, great fishing stories and nonstop action. He had top notch recommendations of places to eat, including a local "cook your catch" restaurant. The fish were fileted and bagged to take. This captain has a great demeanor that is perfect for any age or skill level that you may have in your group. If you are looking to go fishing in the Kenosha area, I would highly recommend Captain Tim and Finquest charters. Despite never meeting him prior to the trip, It was like fishing with a friend.

Some of the most fun we’ve ever had.
Tim was incredibly knowledgeable and humble when it comes to fishing and he gave us an incredible opportunity out on Lake Michigan. When we learned that we might have some bad weather on the day of our trip he offered to move it to the next day since he didn’t have any other customers out to fish that day, which we declined but was incredibly kind of him. He also asked our preference on what we wanted to catch and he mended our schedule to fit exactly what type of fish and how many we wanted to catch. While we were out on the water he showed his immense knowledge and understanding of the fish and their patterns and was absolutely incredible to watch. He didn’t make us do a thing while we were in the boat we just sat back and watched the master do his thing. We limited out on fish and caught four different species while we were out. We’re super excited to eat all of the fish he filleted and bagged for us. I highly recommend taking this charter if you want to have a good laugh with a great guy and catch a whole lot of fun fish. The man’s mustache is incredible as well.

I wanted to do something special with my son, son-in-laws, and brother-in-law so I decided on a charter fishing trip. We had an absolute blast out on the water. We left the dock at 4am due to a strong suggestion from captain Tim. It paid off. Two fish in the box within 10 minutes. Two doubles shortly after that. Fishing tips were offered by captain Tim were appreciated. Gear worked flawlessly. Fish, fun and an education all on one outing.

When one of our group became seasick, he brought us back in. He believes that it is our trip – he’ll do as we wish. Tim is a very nice guy and took good care of us.
