Captain Pete Jacobsen invites you on a first class fishing adventure in the offshore waters of Key Largo, Florida. This area has an abundance of fish you will be able to chase and target with an expert crew led by Capt. Pete. Families and children are most welcome, as he loves to teach them about fishing and sharing his vast knowledge. The captain also welcomes beginners and seasoned anglers.

Capt. Pete will take you fishing on a 34-foot Crusader Downeast sportfishing boat. It is powered by one 375 HP Caterpillar engine, with a maximum cruising speed of 18 knots. The vessel provides a comfortable platform to hunt and capture South Atlantic game fish. You will find all the safety and fish finding technology on board, as well as a flybridge, a toilet, and a shower.

The charter offers traditional nearshore and offshore fishing in the Florida Keys for species such as Mutton Snapper, Red and Black Grouper, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Wahoo, Red Snapper, Skipjack Tuna, and more local species. The crew are very experienced in targeting offshore game fish and will provide you with expert advice on how you can catch them, too, so pay close attention and you’ll be reeling in throughout the trip.

Each trip will include rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, and a fishing license. So all you have to bring is something to eat and drink for the day, and enjoy your adventure! You will have an option to book a half day or a full day trip depending on the fish you want to catch, so take your pick and get ready to reel!

Great trip, the Captain and Mate worked their butts off.
3/4 Day Trip on June 14, 20252 adults
I was looking for a deep-sea trip for my son and me. It was daunting to figure out the perfect one for our needs. My boy saw that Captain Pete offered deep sea Mahi Mahi tours that ended with shooting clay traps off the back of the boat. We ended our search and booked immediately. We did not regret our choice. We had booked an 8-hour, full day trip for the following day. When we got there, the Captain was fully willing to take us out but advised we should wait if possible because the seas were expected to be pretty active all day. We rerouted our plans for the day and decided to meet him the following morning. I have no idea what the seas were like or would have been, but I appreciate him trying to get us the best experience possible if we were able to adapt. The trip went fantastic. It was still a little choppy getting out to his spot and I definitely need some practice gaining my sea legs. We were able to catch a couple of bait fish and a couple of tuna on the way out, which was neat and a cool prelude to what was to come. The next three hours or so, we hit about 4 different schools of Mahi. He had the equipment set up in a way that allowed us to catch a fish, then move on to the next while his mate took care of the fish for us. The Captain and his mate were absolutely hopping. They were directing us what to do, giving us instructions and keeping the boat and equipment on point to get the job done. It was pretty interesting to see it all come together and they did a great job of working us, while also being understanding that we didn't know what the heck we were doing. We caught our limit and then the Captain gave me an option to call it a day for a discount or keep trying for a few more hours catching something else that may or may not happen. He didn't have to do that and even admitted that it would be nothing more than a money grab if he did. I thought that showed integrity and honestly we had way more fish than I wanted to take on a plane at that point anyway. Capt. Pete then got us all set up for the trap shoot. My son and I were able to shoot a box of shells off the stern. While this was fun, let me tell you, it was not an easy proposition. We were sitting in the back of the boat and he'd let the clays off. Shooting clays is a skill on dry land, but it's pretty challenging from a boat on the open water. We hit one out of 25 targets and the kick of the shotgun blistered my already painful sun burn. We had 100% fun and I wouldn't trade a bit of it to get rid of this strawberry on my shoulder that I'm currently still nursing! If I go back to Key Largo, I won't be looking for another charter to go fishing. Thanks to Pete and his mate, Chuck. We had a great day!

Memorable family experience!
3/4 Day Trip on April 2, 20255 adults1 child
Our family of 6 had the best time fishing with Captain Pete and Chuck this week! We caught well over 15 fish, including mahi and tuna. I can hardly believe our great catch on a windy day, but it was clear that Pete and Chuck worked to find the fish and give us the best experience possible! Pete was great at communicating about everything needed ahead of time as well as keep us informed of everything we were doing while on the trip. His boat is awesome and equipped well and gave us plenty of room to reel in the big fish! They took extra care to clean and package the fish afterwards and sent us to Sharkeys for the most amazing tuna nachos, key largo style fish and southern fried fish we’ve ever had. Pete even was able to check in on us at the restaurant and made sure we were enjoying everything. Pete and Chuck are stand up guys with a top notch operation, any trip with these guys and it will not disappoint!

Great Day on the Water!
Half Day Trip (PM) on March 19, 20254 adults2 children
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Fishing Experience with Captain Pete and Oliver! We had an unforgettable trip with Captain Pete and Oliver—these guys are first-class and incredibly knowledgeable! Their expertise and dedication made for an exciting and productive day on the water. We started off trolling for larger fish, and when things slowed down, they quickly adapted and switched methods. The result? A fantastic haul of 13 fish, with 9 solid keepers (Yellow Tail and a Bar Jack)! By the end of the trip, we had more than enough to feed three families a delicious taco dinner. If you’re looking for a top-notch fishing experience with a skilled and friendly crew, look no further than this charter. Highly recommend and can’t wait to book again!

Best day on the sea with Captain Pete
Half Day Fishing & Trapshooting on January 5, 20252 adults
We had high winds and Pete was sure to check in with us about what we were comfortable with. We were able to make it out past the reef to deep water and even though it was choppy felt completely safe and comfortable. Deck hand and first mate Chuck was awesome. He quickly gave us the training we needed as first timers and before we knew it lines were in the water and we were already reeling in our catch. We landed 12 yellow tail snapper in about an hour. So much fun! We then tried some deep water trolling but didn’t have any luck. On our way back to shore we did some trap shooting. Tough to hit a moving target from a moving base but an exciting and unique experience for sure. It was a gorgeous day on the water and we saw a shark, turtles, flying fish and a manatee. Chuck filleted our catch and we took it to local Sharky’s pub and they cooked it up for us. Amazing experience all in. Would definitely recommend and look forward to another trip in the future.

Great trip
Half Day Trip (AM) on June 28, 20255 adults1 child
Six of us went out with Captain Pete and first mate Chuck. Both were very welcoming and helpful. Fishing was tough that day for everyone but we managed a keeper mahi and missed a couple others. On the way back we stopped and did bottom fishing. Caught a decent number of snapper. After they filleted the fish we took them to a local restaurant (Sharkey’s) and had them cooked up for us. A fun day all around.
