Lupo Charters invites you to join them on a fishing adventure in the abundant waters of Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. This charter is operated by Captain Mauricio Mena who has fished the local waters for over 15 years and knows the best fishing spots like the palm of his hand. He regularly participates in local fishing tournaments where he wins top prizes.
Fishing is done aboard a 29’ Pro Line center console with a capacity for 4 persons. Powered by twin 150 HP Yamaha engines, this boat is fast and steady. It features life jackets for safety, electronics in the form of a GPS and a fishfinder, a set of outriggers, snorkeling equipment, a livewell, and snorkeling equipment. There is also a toilet on board which is a huge plus if you are taking the family out.
Captain Mauricio offers inshore and offshore trips that can be booked for four, six, or eight hours. If you choose a half day inshore trip, you can expect to target Snapper, Amberjack, Kingfish, Jack Crevalle, and Barracuda. Alternatively, you can go further offshore in search of the big fish like Roosterfish, Giant Trevally, Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and more.
Lupo Charters will provide you with everything you need on your trip including rods, reels, tackle, live and artificial baits, and a fish cleaning service at the end. They also have a first mate on board who will help you with reeling in your catch, and they serve drinks, snacks, and lunch on full day trips.

Our recent trip with Lupo Fishing Charters was exceptional. The captain and first mate demonstrated professionalism and a genuine commitment to ensuring a positive experience for my buddy and me. Their friendly demeanor and attentive service were appreciated.
The crew worked diligently to locate productive fishing areas, showcasing their expertise and dedication. We accomplished our goal of catch a rooster fish. We ended the trip with both of us fighting a huge fish for almost an hour - What a fun experience! We also found the initial effort to catch bait fish to be an engaging and informative start to the charter.

My son and I had a blast catching bait fish to start, and then catching several rooster fish, needle fish, and jack crevalle. We even caught a frigate bird by accident because it dove down and hooked itself on my live bait. The crew had a good laugh and helped me unhook the bird and send him on his way. I highly recommend fishing in Costa Rica and I highly recommend Lupo Charters. We did 6 hour trip and it was a great length.

Pura Vida with Lupo Sportfishing
Full Day Trip – Offshore on March 6, 2025 • 2 adults
Truly an awesome experience from start to finish. I was provided transportation to and from my resort. Solid boat and Carlos and Daniel were a well oiled machine out on the water. Raised many fish and had quite a few bites. Ended the day releasing one nice sailfish and a couple striped marlin. These were both my target species and they worked extremely hard to put me on those fish. I would give them 6 stars if I could and would recommend to any anglers in the area. Stripped Marlin
3/4 Day Trip – Inshore or Offshore on January 27, 2025 • 4 adults
On a tough day where none of the other boats were getting bites let alone catching the skipper and crew grafted and managed to get me on some fish. Distance wasn't an issue as we travelled at max speed for 2 hours to the best fishing grounds.There was plenty of marine life but nothing interested in our bait. Then after about 90 mins a good size sailfish attacked and took our Ballyhoo but didn't hook, leaping clear of the water. After 3 to 4 hours of trolling and changing things up we hit a small Stripped Marlin. We got it to the side of the boat for some great video and photos and released. About 15 mins after the Marlin we had a hard take from another really good sized Sailfish. Unfortunately it spat the hook after some rod action and some serious acrobatics. The crew did everything they could to get us on the fish. I requested that we target the Marlin and that's what they did. Although the Stripped Marlin wasn't the biggest it gave a great fight and the crew delivered. Really happy with the effort they put in as they didn't give up when I was about to. I had just requested we went inshore for a try at some Roosters for the last hour and then the Marlin came and saved the day. Thank you.

Best Crew in Costa Rica

I've fished in CR 2 times before with not much luck. This time I told Carlos I really wanted to catch a Rooster fish. After fishing few meters away from where we boarded for some bait, we went 15 minutes out and he put us on them immediately. Hooked 3 caught 2 and we caught an Amberjack. Was an amazing day with an amazing crew!!
