Eyepopper Fishing Charters offers anglers a first-class Great Lakes fishing experience on lakes Erie and Ontario. Captain Dennis Viers is a retired school teacher and past bait and tackle shop owner with over 40 years of fishing experience and charter operation on Erie and Ontario. He welcomes families, children, business clients, and friend groups, to join him on the Eyepopper and create a fish story of a lifetime!
The vessel you'll be fishing from is a 27' Sport-Craft boat, powered by a 380 HP Chevrolet/MerCruiser engine (2023). Equipped with state of the art electronics such as dual radio, GPS system with plotter and autopilot features, and a fish finder – she has all the equipment you could possibly need for a productive day on the water. On board, you'll also find a private toilet, and plenty of room for up to 6 anglers to fish comfortably at the same time.
All fishing tackle is also top-notch, and is kept in first-class condition. You'll be equipped with world-class Shakespeare and Cabela Planer Board and Dipsy Diver rods, with Daiwa reels. You'll also have access to a variety of bait such as nightcrawlers, artificial lures, and artificial jigs.
All trips last until the group catches their daily limit, or until the full 7 hours pass. Depending on the day, a group may only take 2.5 hours to fully load up on fish. Other times it may take the whole day. According to regulations fishermen can cooler 6 Walleye per person, per day.
The only thing you should pack is a small cooler with drinks and snacks. Beer is also allowed, however, no glass bottles. If you so chose, the captain can customize your fishing trip to include additional services like lodging, on board food, fish cleaning, and mounting.
All guests over the age of 16 will also need to purchase a fishing license. The easiest place to do this is on ODNR website online.

We booked a 7-hour walleye charter on July 25. Captain Dennis was very personable, knowledgeable and very patient with my 10-year-old grandson. He put us on fish quickly. We had fish on before he got all of the lines out. We were after 4 limits and he stuck with it until that was accomplished, then cleaned our fish at the dock. Other anglers were coming in empty handed. My son and I have been on many Lake Erie charters and we both agreed that this one was by far the most enjjoyable that we've ever experienced.

Our group of 6 (3 adults, 3 12 year olds) had a great time! Captain Denny was extremely knowledgeable and was willing to teach our group, as it was our 1st charter experience. We caught quite a bit of Walleye, including 2 Fish Ohio fish. The boat and equipment were perfect for a great day of fishing. I'd highly recommend Captain Denny!
We consistently caught Walleye throughout our afternoon trip. Denny was excellent working with the grandkids and was extremely coordinated with the trolling setup and bringing the fish in to the boat. We all had a great time and would highly recommend Denny with EyePopper fishing! It truly was a wonderful experience.
Captain Dennis went the extra mile to get us great catches 2 days in a row in very tough conditions. His boat and equipment were clean and well maintained.

Dennis is a true local who has lived around the Lakes his whole life. Has been a teacher for over 35 years, and likes taking children on trips. During his teaching career he also owned a bait and tackle shop for 13 years, which he ran with his family. For 9 years, Capt. Dennis also hosted a radio show where he did a fishing report 3 times a day. It was during this time that he decided to become a captain and share his knowledge with others. The best part of the job is the people and watching them have fun. Captain holds a record in catching 50 Steelhead in one day back in 1998. Which is still unbeaten and very unusual on Lake Erie.
