Old Timer Charters – Lake Erie
Old Timer Charters is a full-service fishing charter on Lake Erie. They are based out of Erie, Pennsylvania and offer half and full day trips throughout the year.
Captain Vince Silvaggi, who owns and operates the charter has fished Lake Erie his whole life and it was a clear choice for him to run charters here. After all, who better to take you fishing than a local?
Capt. Vince offers a variety of trips from May through September. During this time, Lake Erie, known as the Walleye capital of the world, becomes a hub of the Walleye enthusiasts. You will target these hard-fighting fish by trolling the eastern basin of Lake Erie. Lake Trout, Steelhead, and Perch are also abundant in the lake.
Fishing is done aboard a 26’ Striper walkaround with a capacity for up to 3 anglers. Powered by twin 150 HP Johnson engines, with a maximum cruising speed of 46 knots, the boat will get you to the fishing grounds in no time.
The captain will use a GPS and a fishfinder to locate the schooling fish, and there’s a live bait well on board and a cooler for your catch. Your guide will provide top quality rods and reels such as Okuma, Daiwa, Shimano, Fish Hawk, and more. Tackle, bait, a first mate, and fish cleaning are also included in the trip’s price.
The vessel also has a porta potty on board which is a big plus when you’re spending the whole day on the water or are taking kids fishing.
Please make sure you have a valid Pennsylvania fishing license with Lake Erie permit and Trout stamp if fishing for Steelhead or Lake Trout. Don’t forget to stock up on food, snacks, and drinks as well.

Full Day Trip – Walleye
6hr trip for Walleye with Captain Vince
We had a great first experience fishing on Lake Erie with Captain Vince and his first mate Daniel. There were 4 of us on the boat - my son and I, his friend and his dad + Vince and Daniel. Plenty of room to fish. The boat was clean and in very good condition. They had a good plan to fish the shallows first and see what we would catch. We got half of our 6 per day limit there in 2 hours. He then took us to a deeper area and we caught the balance of our limit there. We were very impressed with their set up and rigging. They had more rods and lures than we could ever use in a weeks time. They were attentive to our "first time" on Lake Erie needs. They answered lots of questions and gave lots of insight to the local area, the boat set ups and the lake and fish characteristics. I would not hesitate to charter with Vince & Daniel again and I highly recommend him for any level of angler.
