Martin was excellent at communicating. He was quick to respond and the answered all my questions. We were on the water a little before 7 am and Maurescio was fantasic. His humor, wit and personality made for a fun morning. He put us on top of fish at every fishing spot. We caught barricudas, snook, jacks & a mangrove snapper. A big tarpon was able to elude us today sadly. He was patient in teaching my husband who has only fly fished in rivers and streams how to fly fish in big open saltwater. We fish almost daily in southwest Florida and still had a bunch to learn. Maurescio is a seasoned captain and very good at his skill. We will absolutely book again next trip!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for My Cancun Lagoon Trip I booked a 6-hour light-tackle trip in the Cancun lagoon and had an awesome time. We started with artificials and switched to live bait as the sun came up. I ended the day with around 10 barracuda, a few snapper and jacks, and a solid snook. I normally fish freshwater for bass and brackish water for trout and redfish, but the style here is different. If you go, trust your guide's advice—they know the lagoon, the fish, and the techniques. Once I adjusted how I worked the bait, the bites came fast. Great guides, professional service, and a real fishing experience—not a tourist trap. Highly recommend this trip to anyone… and don't forget to tip your guide. They earn it.

Details for others considering: Typically in Mexico people go for the deep sea trips but trolling or bottom fishing all day can get boring, especially since it was off season for some game fish when we went, so we took a chance trying something different with this light tackle bay trip. From previous reviews I made sure to specify what we wanted to do/what species we’d like to target during the day so they could bring the right tackle and gear, which for us doing the all day trip, was a little of everything. Martin patiently answered all my questions on the app prior to the trip and we felt prepared going in. Make sure to bring cash to pay the balance & tip. We took a short Uber from our hotel (cheaper than a cab). Martin and our captain Noel greeted us in the morning when we arrived, they were all ready to go, and we were on the water in 15 minutes. Noel was super knowledgeable, showed us the lures and technique to use and put us on Tarpon right away. Let me tell you, seeing all the rolling Tarpon in the morning for several hours up the the mangroves was one of the coolest things I’ve ever experienced in my life <3 We hooked into a few and had every opportunity to catch one. Unfortunately it didn’t work out this time but we knew going in that Tarpon are notoriously difficult to land. If you are going for Tarpon, these guys will put you on them but know that you will only land 1 out of 10 on average and that’s just how it is. Noel then grabbed some live bait with a throw net and we went for other species. We caught snook, ladies, snapper and I got quite the fight landing a blue runner. Overall we caught fish in a beautiful place and had a blast! My boyfriend and I both fish regularly and have experience with spinners so we stuck to what we were good at and didn’t do any fly fishing on this trip. I would recommend you have some fishing experience, like at least feel confident casting, to get the most out of a trip like this because you’ll be working with lures and potentially live bait. I’m sure it would be fun either way as the crew totally know what they are doing but that’s my opinion. Book it now!

Headed out on the boat at sunrise and quickly arrived at our fishing location to target tarpon on the fly rod. Managed to hook up to a nice fish but unfortunately got off just as well were about to lip it out. I did manage to catch a nice snook which fought hard! For the last couple of hours we fished on light rods with live sardines around the mangroves. My daughter (12)managed to catch several nice snapper and small barracuda so finished the trip on a nice high.

What an amazing experience! From beginning to end, I would highly recommend Martin and his entire crew! Martin responded in minutes to all questions, made it easy and it was beyond reasonable for the time and how much we caught! My 11 year old son just wanted to catch fish… Barracuda, Red Snapper, Jack and Bonefish!!! He won't stop talking about it! This memory will live for a lifetime.
