You can focus on any one of a number of species on your trip. The Tampa Bay area is blessed with year-round populations of a variety of inshore favorites, from tasty Snapper, Sheepshead, Trout, and Redfish to top gamefish like Tarpon and Snook, there are always plenty of options to choose from.
The connection between the angler and the fish is particularly important for him. You won't just be throwing your bait out and sitting bored until something bothers to bite it. You will be casting and drawing live bait, waiting for that bump on the line, and reeling like mad to set the hook just in time.
You will be spending the day aboard a 24' Bluewave center console, freshly built in 2019 and powered by a modern, 300 HP Suzuki engine.
Captain John is all about making sure you have fun on your trip. If that means hitting your limit and filling the boat then that is exactly what you will do. If what you want is to learn the area and improve your technique, he will happily show you all his favorite tricks he has picked up over his life.

6 Hour Trip on January 8, 2018The gear was awesome! All top notch stuff, he had plenty of backup gear ready so there was little-no down time on change ups or break offs. The boat is awesome! The water temp. was at record lows when we went, but he knew where to find the fish. My friend was in town from Alaska, so it was nice to take him with me and catch so many fish on such a cold day. I felt safe and confident on the boat. I am sure the fishing is much better now the water is warm. I have been fishing the bay since the early 80's and I have never caught that many fish in the whole winter. Given the weather my expectations were low, but even if they had been much higher still hit the mark. Book the trip, and have some fun! Bring a couple beers because you will be behind the reel, not behind the wheel. Louis

Steady action the entire time, had dolphins and manatees swimming around our boat and limited out on spotted sea trout. Went home with plenty for a delicous meal or three to top it off! Great company, great atmosphere and great fishing. Hope to do this again soon!

6 Hour Trip on April 2, 2018Had a great day of fishing on the beautiful waters of Tampa Bay. The captain had refreshments ready the moment I stepped onto his gorgeous boat. Had nonstop action with some big snook and trout until this slob red showed up. Drags were screaming all day! Definitely booking again. Our group consisted of my wife and I and our 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son. We lost track of the number of snook we caught. Our daughter caught a nice Spanish Mackerel for her first time fishing. We also caught a bunch of snapper and a pompano. We were visited by a group of dolphins towards the end that really interacted with our kids. Captain Skunkbeard knows the area and was really great with the kids. Very family friendly! He was very patient with the kids and with people with limited fishing skills. The kids said the trip was better than Disney. We will definitely book with him again.

It was a killer day man, all those snook still ate in 52° water temps!
