Carp fishing in Missouri, United States draws anglers to big, calm waters and wide rivers. Common Carp and Grass Carp grow large here, and they fight hard. You can find them in warm coves, slow backwaters, and muddy flats across the state.

Most anglers use bottom fishing with simple rigs and steady bait. Corn, dough balls, and boilies work well on pressured fish. Float fishing helps when Carp feed near the surface. Sight-casting on sunny days is exciting on clear flats. At night, some trips offer bowfishing for Grass Carp where it is legal. Your captain will explain each method and when to use it.

Charter trips are relaxed and hands-on. Guides bring the boat, tackle, bait, and local knowledge. Beginners learn how to read mud trails, bubbles, and carp “rolls.” Families enjoy calm water and short runs between spots. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and polarized sunglasses to spot fish. Pack snacks, drinks, and a light jacket. A small cooler is useful if harvest is allowed on your trip.

Across Missouri, broad areas stand out. The Missouri River and Mississippi River hold Carp in side channels, sloughs, and backwaters. Lake of the Ozarks has quiet coves and docks where fish root in the shallows. Truman Lake and Stockton Lake offer broad mud flats and creek arms that warm early in spring. Urban park lakes and farm ponds can also produce steady action.

Before you go, check Missouri fishing rules. Make sure you have the right fishing license or permit. Review local seasons, harvest limits, and any special rules for bowfishing or specific waters. Regulations can change, so confirm details with local authorities before your trip.

(6 Hour Trip – Table Rock)

    Great Fishing

Captain Bryan Badock was fantastic! He is very professional, helpful and courteous. Within minutes of our first stop, we had fish in the boat, and this repeated at every additional stop. Caught small mouth, large mouth, and spotted bass, and Goggle Eye. We had a huge "surprise" fish that drug the boat around for about 15 minutes before we could finally see it, a 28.15 pound Carp (see photos). When we come back to Branson, we'll be signing up for another fishing trip with Bryan!

    (4 Hour Trip - 2:30 PM)

Professional, fun and successful on the water.

Eric was very professional and prepared for our trip. He reached out ahead of time to switch lakes hoping to have a better experience given the conditions. We caught a mixed bag of bass including a solid 5+ largemouth and a 25lb carp on a swimbait. I'd recommend booking with him if you're fishing in the area.

Captain Ron was very knowledgeable and prepared. Problem free day fishing, nothing is better than that.

    Tough bite

Brien definitely knew where the fish were (could see them on the sonar), but just not biting this morning. We did catch 2 nice (keeper) bass and several undersized bass and bluegill. Brien is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
